Alcorn State did win the SWAC last year and they are picked to win it again this year so their final record should be a lot better than it is right now.

Purdue update: In spite of playing in the big 10, Purdue has managed to stay in the top 10 of the rpi. Boyds World has Purdue's current rpi at #7.
They still have not only have a chance of hosting a regional but of being a national seed. Boyd's rpi needs assessment says Purdue has to go 2-13 to finish in the top 45, 11-3 to finish in the top 16 (to have a good chance of hosting a regional) or 14-1 to finish in the top 8 (national seed territory). Since Purdue has only lost 6 games all year (2 of them to WSU), their chances of going 11-3 or better to end up as a regional host look awfully good.

They played like crap those two games and we overachieved. Big deal. Moral victories such as these and having to hang our hat on a couple of good wins is a testament of how low this program has dropped. Oh well, I see good things on the horizon however.

I posted this update because myself (and many others) didn't believe Purdue would be able to hold their good rpi all season long. They came into Wichita with a top 15 rpi and surprisingly they have actually improved it. That is a very hard thing to do when you play in the big 10. There are lot of rpi killers in that conference.

Pretty sure Michigan also won a regional at Vanderbilt, then lost a super (@ FSU?). Ohio State also won a regional in 2003. And I think Penn State won one too in the first year of the new format, then got sent to Texas for the super and lost.
Remember how Maine used to be in the CWS seemingly every other year? Talk about a program that completely disappeared once regionals stopped being as strictly distributed by geography.
