I was so pissed after yesterday I stayed home and did chores around the house. Nice to hear Shane and Mike call a couple wins.
Shox commit exactly one error in both games. First time they've done that all season. Must be the key to success!?! Much better hitting with RISP today as well. Doggett should be an every day player. Nice to see a few slump-busters today in the box score.

Nice work today Shocks. Good pitching. Solid and timely hitting. Solid defense.
I have to give some credit to the Lady Shocks basketball team. They took the negative karma hovering over 21st and Hillside and strangled it, stomped on it, chewed it up and spit it out last night agaisnst ORU.
The Shocker baseball team finished the job today.

Our pitching was excellent today. Josh Smith set the tone by taking them down in order in the first inning. Foster Vielock came in and never let them into the game. I thought holding the #1 offensive team in the nation (they have been AVERAGING 9.5 runs a game) to 2 runs was pretty awesome.
But then we get to the second game and two Shocker freshmen pitchers Gardner and Ladwig hold them to just 3 runs. (Elam pitched the last inning to get the save).
Our pitching really is very good this year. Other than a couple of wind aided home runs yesterday that netted 5 runs yesterday against a pitcher who was pitching the first time since coming off rehab, our pitching staff really handled the most offensive team in the country very well.
We also got a lot of hitting today. Johnny and Casey hit two monster homers in the first game (no wind needed on those two). The Shox got 24 hits in the two games. That was huge. Several guys had a good day hitting the ball: Taylor Doggett, Casey G., Tyler Coughenour, Johnny Coy, Kevin Hall, Donnie Lambert, Eric Harbutz (4 for 5) and Ryan Hege.
