  • Shocks vs ORU - Part II

Before we get too carried away with the Purdue Boilermakers this weekend we do have a game Tuesday with ORU.

ORU has won 7 of their last 10 to even their record to 7-7 after dropping to 0-4 following their loss to the Shocks in Tulsa 3 weeks ago. Since we last played ORU took 2 of 3 from Eastern Michigan, notched a 3-1 win over Central Arkansas and then swept Alcorn State all at home.

This past weekend they played in a tournament at Alabama losing 3-7 to Louisville and 2-4 to East Carolina but the did come away with a 3-2 win over host Alabama.

A.J. Ladwig will be on the hill for the Shocks. Let's hope he can duplicate his last outing.

This weekend ORU and Missouri State play a 4-games series with games in Tulsa on Thursday and Friday and games in Springfield on Saturday and Sunday. Wouldn't mind doing something like that with ORU in the future if it could be fit in.

ORU has been a lot of trouble for us in recent years. We got a nice win over them earlier this year in Tulsa. It would be really nice if we could sweep these guys.

Shocker's all-time record errorless streak of 6 games is broken on the 1st batter of the game as Johnny Coy boots a routine grounder. Got that out of the way.

AJ Ladwig works around the error in very efficient fashion.

Sounds like we have strike thrower in AJ. (Hope that doesn't jinx him.)

Sounds like the top of the 2nd had it's share of bad luck. Need to start whittling away at this lead. A long way to go.

4-0 thru 3. We have 5 hits and a walk, but have hit into 2 DP's and had a CS.

4 innings. 4 leadoff runners for the Shocks. No runs. Either the ORU pitcher has been outstanding or the Shocks execution has not been very good.

I know this is just one game, but this is embarrassing.

See what this team is made of the last few innings.

Well, this is another forgettable performance. On to Purdue. We take 3 of 4 from them, all will be forgotten - at least I'll try.

Why not leave Hall in the nine hole? He was much more relaxed and we were winning.

Doggett has two hits in the leadoff position and gets rewarded with two games on the bench.

It is baseball, so these things can and do happen. But they do seem to be happening at much greater frequency.
