If I counted right Wild Thing Stevens threw 5 strikes, but had 2 balks, threw two wild pitches and hit two batters? Is that close?
yeeeeesh
Again, you aren’t gonna get a worse first inning by a pitcher in all of D1 and probably D2 baseball. It’s absolutely amazing WSU was able to survive that and pull out a W.
We have two reliable pitchers and 1 ok pitcher from the pen. That is it currently.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

“Wild Thing Stevens isn’t a bad comparison. As a former MLB personnel guy, Wedge knows more than anyone, how fine a line it is between “success and failure” at every level of ball. Talent is one thing but confidence can be lost and found quickly at the college, minor league, and Major League levels
Brummett was our ACE pitcher in 89 (CWS Champs) and wasn’t close to our most talented major league pitcher. We had much more pitching talent in the 90’s. The key to Wedge’s search for talent will be when our baseball program progresses to the point when we don’t have multiple players finding their talent. Fewer chances taken on talented players, while still winning is our goal. Right now, we have a big number of our pitching staff who are transfers from other Div. 1 programs and Juco programs.
Kaminska will find himself, and Tolle looks to be a good one. Piecing together an entire pitching staff isn’t easy.
