In the bottom of the 6th McDonough give up a single and a walk to open the inning. The 9-hole hitter was bunting to move the runners over. McDonough fielded the ball and then froze. By the time he threw to first the runner was easily safe. Base loaded no outs. Austin Wallace coming in to pitch for the 1st time this season. Wallace is a sophomore transfer from Texas.
A double scores 2 to make it 6-0 TSU.
A walk reloads the bases with no outs.
After a strike out as single to right scores 2 more making it 8-0.
A double makes it 9-0 and moves runners to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.
Ryan Stuempfig on in relief of Wallace.
Another walk reloads the bases with 1 out.
A strike out and fly out to left ends this mess of an inning.

After a pitching change in the 8th by TSU the Shockers finally get on the board. Gage Williams with a sharp single to left followed 1 out later by a no doubter by Brock Rodden into the wind in left.
Shocks avoid the shut out. But too little, too late. TSU leads 9-2.
BTW, that was the Shockers first home run of the season.,
Highlights For the Shockers (if they can be called that):
1. Couper Cornblum picked up the Shocks first stolen base of the season although he was stranded on 3rd base.
2. Brock Rodden hit the Shockers first home run of the season
3. Ryan Stuempfig pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Unfortunately, it was 9-0 when he came into the game
4. It appears that the Shocks may not need to worry about finding a closer this year
5. Denning Gerig did a really nice job in relief (in the broadcast booth)
Whatever expectations one may have coming into the season you may want to temper those more than a little bit.
Just crappy day to play a baseball game but it didn't seem to bother Texas State that much and the Shocks should be more accustomed to that kind of weather than TSU.
