Wedge showing his knack with zero doubt bringing Eddy in. Pitching is like GK in soccer. Won or lost between the ears. Today, his teammates surrounded him with confidence. Great rebound.
Quietly LJ McDonough has become a reliable piece out of the pen. It doesn't make us deep, but at least they have LJ, Stumpy, Haase & Bechtel that you can feel pretty good about right now.
Everyone but LJ (and the 3 starters that have gone) should be available tomorrow.
I did not thing Liam Eddy look very good against UCF yesterday as the Knights were smacking him around pretty good but fortunately the Shocks had a guy there to catch a lot fo those hard hit balls. 7 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter over 5 innings and he was very fortunate to get out of the 5th with only 1 run scoring.
As WuDrWu mentioned above LJ McDonough looked very good in his 3 innings of work. He has a really nasty 12 to 6 breaking pitch that perhaps he doesn't use quite enough. Tommy Barnhouse was not bad in the 9th either.
Gareth Stroh will be on the mound today according to the UCF announcer on the ESPN+ broadcast. BTW, this UCF announcer really does a pretty good job calling the games IMO and he seems to always have a few interesting tidbits or trivia or other information to interject as well.
Liam certainly wasn't very good in the first, but after that not too bad. Not his best, but a heck of a lot better than the last 2 outings for sure.
Shocks get a run in the 1st but leave a guy on 3rd with only one out as Bartlett popped up to the infield and then 0-2 they tried a double steal and Gibby was tagged out before Wallace could score.
Leadoff guy for UCF homered off Stroh to tie it in the 1st....hard to blame Stroh as it wasn't a bad pitch at all. Otherwise Gareth was solid.
With 2 out in the 2nd his brother Seth untied it with a solo shot. 2-1 Shocks bottom 2.
