Tolle, if you're out there ... it's not too late baby girl. Come back to ol' Kung Wu.

If you think about it the cost of an education is a pretty arbitrary number. The cost per hour is the same if it is a class of 15 or a lecture class of a couple of hundred. The university could eat the cost of classes while the athletic department would pay for food and housing. I wonder if all of the endowed scholarships are set up to cover all costs. I think a more equitable agreement between the university and athletic department could be negotiated

Here are the current cost of attendance at Wichita State: https://www.wichita.edu/administrati..._undergrad.php

Let's say an average of $30,000 per year times 23.3 = $699,000 per year.

That's a chunk of change for the WSU Athletic program in my opinion.
You would only need to give like 10 elite kids that amount. If you give partials to the rest that is still much lower than a TCU ($70,000 a year) giving a kid 50%

It is lower than TCU in absolute dollars but perhaps and probably not as a % of their overall athletic budget and available NIL resources. Any way you slice it is is not an insignificant amount of money for the Wichita State athletic department.

The Alston academic awards and perhaps other academic awards are an area WSU should be pushing and I think ADKS is at least trying to do that with the Alston awards. But that doesn;t necessarily set them apart especially form the P-5 conference programs.

As long as the current pay for play system (sometimes called NIL) remains as is Wichita State is is not among the haves.

My main point though is that this is not an insignificant amount of money as some have implied.

As for private schools, they hand out academic scholarships like candy. Most $70k schools give very large discounts if you have a decent grades.

Yes they give out academic but you need to maintain a certain gpa to keep it. For bigger scholarship dollars its a 3.5 so not the easiest. My point was a kid/family is paying out dollars and Wichita tuition is lower than most. So it might not take as much NIL overall.

Heard that Payton’s mom is struggling with her cancer fight. I know we are all upset he didn’t stay, but sounds like he and his family could use our prayers

Nobody is upset at Payton, just upset at the unfortunate circumstances that made him feel WSU wasn't the best fit for him right now.

Definitely sending out thoughts and prayers for Payton and his family.

Jina is an amazing woman/mother/wife. She's been fighting this battle for a long time, and has endured more surgeries, treatments, pain and bs than any 100 people ever should suffer.

The diagnosis has never been good, but you'd never know it talking to her. Her outlook on life is beyond amazing, all things considered.

Payton's younger brother, Charlie, is just as impressive. She and her husband have done a beautiful job raising those kids.

She deserves all the prayers and good will you can send her way.

                    • Prayers going up for her and the Tolle family. IIRC she is a former Shocker athlete herself.
