Cold, you continue to show your ignorance. Sticks and Stones. I won’t stoop to your name calling level. Do you know what a Socialist is? Sorry pal not me. Maybe you?

Jim is a good guy and was a great AD. He made a great hire back in the day. I been around longer than you I am quite sure.

Hope you can enjoy the hiring of the next baseball coach.

Ah yes, good ol Jim Schaus. Great AD. One of the best. Too bad WSU hasn't had a competent AD since he left

A very little birdie told me we DID have our guy (almost) in the bag before we made the announcement. Coaching contracts take time to get hashed out.

Give the guy some credit when he makes HIS hire of a baseball coach. He simply played the cards he was dealt. I guess if either of you knew anything about sports other than to constantly slander the AD you would be working in the athletic department with a seat at the table. But alas you are faceless posters on a internet fan site because you can’t do anything else to contribute to the situation.

Feel free to bash me now.
Why do some people think that just because they’re attached to WSU means they’re the bestest and not subject to criticism?

Nevermind the baseball mess that lasted far longer than it should have, ever been to a basketball game and watched the production going on there? Ever go to a baseball game on the hill? Ever wondered why you were told bottle caps aren’t allowed at Koch and then told it was some “conference policy” even though it wasn’t?

Has Boatright ever spoken at a press conference before? Did he actually make a statement regarding the release of Butler? Is he just gonna send out a press release when we hire a new coach or is he actually gonna formate a few paragraphs from his mouth?

Please stop with the blindness. And please stop thinking that WSU fans must be apart of groupthink.

I still vividly recall how former ADJS owned the room when most were crying in their beer when MT left. I can't recall the exact words but he glowingly and confidently spoke about the opportunity and dawn of a new day. There was a planned pregnant pause mixed in...it was reminiscent of JFK or Reagan

It doesn't matter how much someone may dislike Boatright. It's unfair to judge his job performance on the Butler fiasco. That pooch was screwed before Boatright was the guy.

Butler was here 6 years, right? Firing Butler 4 years ago would have cost the athletic department $1.2 million before Butler really had any of his players worked into the system. That would have been grounds for MAJOR criticism. Firing Butler 3 years ago would have cost the athletic department $900,000. That still would have been grounds for criticism. Firing Butler last year would have cost the athletic department $600,000 in a year where the athletic department had already borrowed $2,500,000.

Boatright may be incompetent, He may be in over his head, but you can't use the baseball program to justify that position. That's like tying someone's hand behind their back, telling them to eat a cherry pie, and then complaining because they were messy.

There has been quite a bit of speculation that Boatright hand-picked Butler and was instrumental in the initial contract negotiations which hasn't been denied to my knowledge. Hindsight is definitely 20/20 as Cold noted earlier but I'm not sure why some are stating its unfair to judge his performance on this matter when he owned it from the beginning.

However, the key word is speculation about ADDB's involvement. I do think he had some involvement. To what extent I don't know. We do know that if ADDB was heavily involved then it was ADES who enabled that and we also know where the buck ultimately stops.

Well Jim did an outstanding job when it came to hiring coaches and staff. They should be compared to him. We all must realize that most ADs are not Jim Schaus however.

I don’t judge Boatright solely on one thing. That would be dumb. There are a myriad of things that have been discussed on this forum and the basketball forum that he has screwed the pooch in. His borderline arrogance, calling former employees out on Twitter, didn’t suit me well either.

Jim was great in that regard. But he was not perfect. Jane Albright and Jody Adams (Adams had some good success but at what price?) in women's basketball and Judy Favor and Mike Perniciaro in softball. Overall though his hires have been stellar and Schaus was very good where it counted - men's basketball. And he pretty much left Gene alone.

ADES and ADDB (to whatever extent) made a poor baseball hire (and some would argue a poor fire) and compounded that mistake with a bad contract and they also forced Brent Kemnitz on the new head coach. Hopefully, ADDB is one that learns from his mistakes.

There will be very few AD’s at any level with more contacts than he had. I believe most of those were from his fathers relationships. He was very good but make no mistake about it he was not loved by everyone. Several boosters I knew felt like he was going to the well every time he shook their hand.

That's called doing your job. It's all about the Benjamin's if you want a nationally ranked collegiate athletic program.
