I don't know how you can say that the players have no responsibility unless Butler did something crazy like deciding to rest Bohm, Jenista, Ritter and/or Troutwine for the regionals. He is rolling out the same lineup as when they have won. They are losing 8-2. They have given up unearned runs, the pitchers have walked 6 and hit two more. The offense produced only 2 runs - that not gonna win many college baseball games.

At some point you can't defend this anymore. Butler has got to go. His entire career has been a production of mediocrity. The man simply cannot put out/coach a quality baseball team. I only hope Boatright isn't too benevolent to keep ignoring this.

The players have to produce but I seriously hope you aren't deflecting blame away from Butler. He's the HEAD COACH. It's HIS responsibility to field an NCAA quality team. He gets credit for the wins (as little as they come) and gets credit for the losses (like our current free-falling tank job in conference).

        Gimme a freaking break.

Boatright is a descendant of the great Eric Sexton, who put us in this mess. My confidence in Boatright is murky at best.

But for anyone to think that this guy is the game changer, with his "best" team in 5 years, and is squarely pointed in the direction of another NCAA tourney miss, you'd have to be pretty freaking dumb. Or hail from the state of Louisiana. Or both.

I have already been on record that Butler got to go. But at the same time, this is also on the seniors of this team.

Much better start today. 3 singles in the bottom of the 1st brings in a run. Probably should have been a better inning but ended on a GIDP. Still better than yesterday! 1-0 Shocks after 1 inning.

Tripleplay gets Cincy out of big trouble. Shox lead 3-1

Shocks hit into 4 double plays yesterday and 2 today plus the triple play through 5 innings. That can be really tough to overcome.

Tyler Davis has become the Shocks ace. Although that has a good side and a bad side.

The Shocks decide not to hit into a double play and the bottom of the order is able to manufacture an insurance run in the 7th. A walk to Hunter Gibson, a sac bunt by Trey Vickers and an RBI signle by freshaman Ross Cadena.

Luke Ritter follows with a single to put move Cadena to 2nd. After Travis Young struck out for the 2nd out Alec Bohm delivered a run with and RBI single and Gunnar Troutwine did the same. Shocks now lead 6-1.

An intentional walk to Greyson Jenista loaded the bases and Alex Jackson delivered the 3rd 2-out RBI single driving in 2 more runs to make it 8-1..

A 4th 2-out single by Hunter Gibson drives in one more and the Shocks finish off a 6-run 7th and lead 9-1.

They have been able to rebound, but not have been able to win the rubber match. We will see what they can do tomorrow.

This is true. Our Game 3 ptiching is a bit of an adventure. But very nice work by Tyler D. and C. Tyler today.

                            Must win tomorrow.

Going 2-1 on the weekend keeps you well in the mix. Good luck tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the Game 1 pitching has become far too adventurous recently as well.

That's more like it. I haven't looked at the format, but the Shocks need to hope that the conference tourney doesn't start on a Friday -- they'll be in a quick hole if so.

Mike Kennedy said it wasn't official yet but he thought that Preston Snavely might get the start in Game 3 for the Shocks. Having your weekend rotation in flux this late in the season absent any key injuries is certainly not the best situatuion.

The final weekend of the regular season is played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 17th thru 19th. The AAC Tournamnet starts on Tuesday May 22nd.

Looks like the 9th place team gets to stay home. Interestingly, the No. 1 seed plays on Day 1 agaisnt the No. 8 seed. The 4 and 5 seeds also on Day 1. The winners of those games get Day 2 off.

On Day 2 the 2 vs 7 and 3 vs 6 games are played followed by an elimination game of the Day losers.

The Shocks may want to think about moving Tyler Davis into the #1 slot either next weekend or against Memphis.
