Tyler Davis with a much, much better inning in the 2nd than in the 1st. Perhaps a bit of nerves for the Freshman in his 1st weekend start.

Shox get a homer in the top of the 1st by Ritter, but then give up 4 in the bottom half, 2 unearned by throwing errors.
Let's sign Butler for an extension. I like where this is going.Originally posted by Veritas View PostReverse the Curse.
The Butler is simply coaching to his capabilities. WTF was Sexton/Boatright thinking when they hired this clown. Seriously.

Shocks create a run in the 9th to take a 5-4 lead and Chase Sanburn sets UCF down in order in the 9th for a really big win, perhaps a must win, for the Shocks. I thought this was one of the Shocker's better games of the year after the 1st inning.
The Shocks need to eliminated the occasional innings where they can't seem to get out of there own way and make things a lot easier on themselves.
Of course, today's win won't mean nearly as much if the Shocks can't validate it by coming out with a win in the rubber game tomorrow. Hopefully. Liam can get back on track.
Great job by Freshman Tyler Davis today after a shaky first inning on his part and by the Shocker defense plus really nice work by Cody Tyler, Adam Keller and Chase Sanburn in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings. Still need to get the offense going a bit better but the pitching in the AAC appears to be plenty tough.
Good job by Jacob Katzfey pinch runing for Freshman Hunter Gibson, who led off the Shocker 9th with single, to steal second after Travis Young was unable to get the sac bunt down.
Key home runs by Luke Ritter and Dayton Dugas early to keep the Shocks in the game.
Big 2-out RBI single by Alex Jackson in the 6th to score the tying run. Perhaps the biggest hit of his Shocker career so far.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 28, 2018, 09:54 PM.

Whew! Needed that so bad. Tomorrow is almost as crucial. Need to counter the UCONN series with a road series. Still have everything ahead of them if they TCB. #goshocks“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

Frankly, I think they will ignore whatever the team does in the conference along with not making the tourney and will give some sort of extension due to their non-con performance.

Now, that's the kind of win that could bring people back to the park. A pitching debacle yesterday and a poor start today, especially with the very sloppy first inning. Yet Tyler kept his wits about him and was solid thereafter, the pen was effective, and the offense managed to execute enough times to complete the comeback. (Also a nice rebuttal to believers in baseball "momentum" after Friday and the inning today. The Shocks turned completely on a dime after ten very unsatisfactory innings, and voila -- a very satisfying victory was the result.)
Nice to go into Sunday with a chance actually to win a series for a change. Good job today, guys; and good luck tomorrow as you try to keep it going.

What a weird inning in the bottom of the 5th. Leadoff hitter doubles and advances to 3rd on an error. Kilgore then strikes out two before allowing the runner to score on a wild pitch.
We then give up a single to center, the runner advances to 2nd on a passed ball, steals 3rd and scores on an error. Down 5-2 now...
