  • Shocks Host Oklahoma State (Moved to Wednesday)

he Wichita State-Oklahoma State baseball game scheduled for Tue., April 3 has been moved to Wed., April 4 due to expected cold temperatures and wind on Tuesday evening.

The game between the Shockers and Cowboys will start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Eck Stadium.

    http://goshockers.com/news/2018/4/2/...wednesday.aspx

Probably a good idea. Tuesday evening forecast at game time was 49 degrees with winds out of the NNW at 25 mph. By the end of the game it would be 40 degrees with 15 mph winds.

Looks like Wednesday might be a bit warmer but sitll pretty breezy although the winds will shift to out of the South.

OSU swept TCU last weekend and comes in with an RPI of 48. Big game tonight against another good team.

I haven't seen a starter named yet for either squad - did Butler tip his hand on the coach's show?

Sure hope there is a big crowd of WSU fans. These mid week games are against tough teams and a home crowd can make all the difference for a team. Seeing more Orange and Black can have a downing effect. LETS GO WICHITA FANS!

Perhaps LET'S GO MOTHER NATURE is a more appropriate chant.

I hope Tulane comes to town early and we can squeeze in a DH tomorrow.

No kidding, sucks that we're not playing on the one nice day this week!

C.J. Varella, a 5-10, 167 lb So. RHP, starting for OSU. 2.45 ERA in 7 appearances covering 25.2 innings.

Preston Snavely, 6-5, 200 lb So. RHP, gets the start for the Shocks. 5.40 ERA in 4 appearances covering 13.1 innings.

If the we have a brawl I like Snavely's chances against Varella. Otherwise the edge seems to go to OSU on paper.

Gunnar Troutwine makes Varela pay for loading the bases on 3 walks in the bottom of the 1st as he laced a 2-out, 2-run double to left on a 3-2 count.

Shocks take an early 2-0 lead.

That's what the Shocks need in those situations. Nice job Gunnar who is the hottest Shocker at the plate right now.

After 2 solid innings of work Snavely gives up a double, single, double and OSU has tied it up at 2-all.

If this is our 4th guy, then we will never beat a midweek opponent who's decent.

                ... No really, deuces.

?? I'd say OSU is pretty decent and we can win this if we stop giving them outs on the base paths and stop swing at the first pitch! Can't expect the pitching staff to do it all. 9 Ks so far is HUGE.

Geez. Speedster Young on first and Boyer swings at first pitch for an out! Would have been nice to give Young a chance to get into scoring position.

Paxton needs a prodcutive AB here.

Takes a walk. Runners on 1st and 2nd.

Now Trey needs to have a productive AB.

A bloop single to right by Trey loads the bases.

Need a bit poke here Gunnar.

                  Great execution in the 3rd.

This is a power hitting team. Wish we would quit running in to so many outs on the basepaths.

Yeah, we don't exactly have Lou Brock and Maury Wills patrolling the basepaths.

Nice to get 3 back. 5-2 shox after 3.

Shocks give 1 back but that could have been much worse. Pretty good job by Lungwitz in relief of Snavely.
