Impressive 5 out save for Sanburn to close it out. 9-6 Shockers, final.
Fun win, this is a game we almost certainly drop after falling behind 6-3 on the road in recent seasons. Pitchers struggled all day (pretty fortunate to limit UCA to 6 runs considering) but great to see the hitters pick them up when they needed it.
For you yeah. My guess is that isn't how Coach Steele would describe a nifty 193 pitch, 18 runner effort by his pitching staff. But it was indeed a win.
You are going to have some of these especially in college baseball and especially in mid-week games.
Shocks do match their road win total from a year ago with their 5th road win.
For a replay of the game got to YouTube and search for Winning Ugly!
If you are going to have game like this it's good to at least win it and make the trip to your next stop much more enjoyable.

These guys have shown some fight this season. Been down a few times and fought back and at like Play Angry said, we lose this game the last 6 seasons or so.
Didn't pitch that well, really didn't hit that well either. Thrown out on a double steal and threw a pick off into center. BUT made some plays and pitched well when they needed it and won a road game against a team that wins more than they lose and is a borderline top 100 team (105 Boyd ISR). Pretty happy fan here.

You are always happy with a win. OTOH, a game like this doesn't exactly build confidence for this weekend's series. But hopefully Cody and LIam will be on their games and keep the Shocks in the first two games then we will just have to piece together Game 3 as best we can. Tommy Barnhouse with the start in that game 3 perhaps?
Last little bit of Koolaid from me today.......while nobody, including me, is going to argue we're playing top end SEC teams in the meat of our non-con, teams are fielding .971 against us. That's about top 100 fielding. It just means we aren't getting a bunch of free runs game in and game out. That number is likely to get better as the Pirates field a sparking .984.
