            • 3-1 Final. Gonna have to hope the Bears can get one tomorrow.

              • Final Score 3-1. The announcer acted like the Jays just won the world series.

Creighton has only won or tied for the MVC title once ever (2005).

                • They can't even get 10k in with free tickets and a first place team?

I can't wait til the newness factor wears off and they're back to averaging 300 a game.

                  By the way, MSU sucks.

                  • No reason to get down on the Bears. They aren't to blame that we left our fates in their hands.

                      • If CU would win tomorrow, WSU then is the 1st place seed and has to play BU - can WSU win 4 in a row against BU?

Actually, if MSU would win tomorrow, WSU then is the 1st place seed and has to play BU.

If sCUm wins, they are the outright champions. Current records: WSU 14-7, sCUm 14-6.

Could WSU beat BU 4 times in a row? Sure. The Shox are on a 5 game win streak. They hadn't even won 3 in a row since they started the season 7-0. Since then, no more than 2 wins in a row. They have a little fight in 'em now, IMO.

                          • Huh?

Hey, SB -- it isn't that hard to beat a team four in a row if you've already won the first three. Chances are you're better, so the odds have to be heavily in your favor in the one remaining game.

Plus, Charlie Lowell would be a lot better rested than Bradley's main man.
:good: In all seriousness, I hope Lowell doesn't have some sort of mechanical problem that's suddenly robbing him of his command.

                            • I hope the Bears still have some fight left in them. If they do, they should have a good chance of winning. The #3 Cu starter seems to give up a lot of runs.

                              • Kudos

By the way, kudos to a couple of pitchers I've complained about at times this year. I've been on Brian Flynn's case more than once, saying after last week's blowup against Indiana St that he wasn't earning his spot in the rotation. But Flynn was the man in Friday's breakfast special, showing as he did earlier against Illinois State the kind of pitcher he can be. Let's hope he keeps it up next week, when the Shocks will need him to come up big again.

And as good as Flynn was, Josh Smith, about whom I griped earlier that he didn't seem ready for prime time, was even better. Actually, Smith has been solid for a while now, and he deserves #2 status behind Lowell on the current Kelley-less staff. He's making me a believer, and I just hope the coaches didn't overwork him today (132 [!] pitches, which seems awfully high to me) because of their fears about the bullpen.
