  • Game 3: scum vs wsu

Well this is the rubber match. If wsu wins they will be within 1 game and have something to play for. If the don't win they will be 2 games behind (in reality 3 games because cu owns tiebreaker).

I wonder if the turnpoint of this season could have been If O'Brien could have gotten that ball out. I guess we shall see tomorrow.

Actually, this is MUST WIN game for WSU. They are 2 games out now, 3 games if they lose (+ sCUm with tiebreaker).

I have no idea what the flavor of the month NVC tournament format is this year, but a loss could drop the Shox into 3rd or 4th place contention - not good.

The team showed a little spunk on offense in the late innings Saturday, but couldn't get the big hit. O' Brien's ball was well struck and would have sent us all home happy, but Coy and Coughenhour could have at least tied it and made thngs interesting. The pitching didn't keep up their end, that's for sure, although TJ held the fort for several innings.

I thought Chris hit it very well. It looked like a HR off of the bat. Unfortunately the wind was blowing in.

Sunday is now a must win game.

Yeah you are right. My bad. They are 2 games behind and if they lose go to 3 (with it being really 4 to win the league). Win and they have something to Play for. Lose and see what type of record lies this team sets.

Do you really think this team will come up big at the end? They will probably play exactly like they have been doing for the last 2 months.

Just got to have hope that they can some how find "it"

            Shox beating cu easily 7-0.

There is one example of a team "finding it" that I can recall - Fresno State when it won the CWS back in '08 I believe.

They had to win their conference tourney championship to even make the regionals, when they did, we know what happened. Extremely low odds we pull off something similar.

Actually, we could lose all the game from here on out - it doesn't matter. We are not at-large material so it all boils down to one weekend of the year for our playoff hopes. I will be breaking out JoBu when the tourney starts however.

                10-1 Shox

Micah Green with his second straight great Sunday, with 4 2-out RBI's today.

How much credit do JT and Gene get for developing and sticking with Micah Green this season?

None. They don't put any effort into this program anymore. Haven't you been paying attention?

                      Shocker offense goes dormant.

                      10-3 Shox

Green adds a triple in the 7th, and he and Davidson score to put the Shox up 12-3.

Green really helping to erase what was a gaping hole at the bottom of the order.

He's really taken advantage of getting regular playing time. Hopefully, he continues to make improvement and lower his strikeout ratio. He and Coughenour give me hope for the future. Bayliff too if he can come back from that injury.

Man, I picked the wrong day to go to a game (yesterday).

Just can't figure this team out.. outscore the sCUm 20-3 in our wins, and look lost and without focus in our loss.

Reading the boxscore, I thought for sure with Grimes setting the tone with 2 errors on the first play of the game that it would be a long day.

Always nice to beat the sCUm and send their hoard of peckerheaded megaphone dweebs back to Gomerha on a sour note.

The last two series are very sweepable. Pretty much need to go 6-0 in those to have a shot.
                            Deuces Valley.
                            ... No really, deuces.

Great day and a reminder to sCUm that they can try and coach as hard as they want, they're still sCUm and they still would kill or die to be Wichita State.

Creighton hold on for dear life to the MVC lead by surviving 2 near run rules and a prayer in the 9th yesterday.

CU 10-5 (@ Evansville and finish home against MSU)

WSU 9-6 (ISUB and @ Bradley)

Missouri State 8-6 (dropped a game @ ISUR today) (BU and @ CU)

SIU 8-7 (shutout against BU today) (ISUR and @ ISUB)

ISUR 8-7 (won today, lost 2-3 v MSU) (@ SIU and v Evansville)

Evansville 6-8 (lucky to get 1 of 3 @ ISUB) (CU and @ ISRU)

ISUB 6-9 (almost swept UE) (@ WSU and v SIU)

BU 4-11 (shutout SIU today 4-0) (@ MSU and v WSU)

Anything less than a 6-0 finish in the Valley has to be viewed a total failure. Indiana State is bad and Bradley can't carry ISUB's jockstrap.

As inconsistent as they've been, I could see the Redbirds sweeping the rest of their schedule. I can't see either CU or MSU sweeping the other.

The regular season title (for pride) seems right in front of us.
