Suellentrop and I spoke about this during the week and it's a definite positive for the Valley to add DBU. They bring a strong SOS and RPI to the conference and earning at large bids as an independent is not an easy thing to do. I'n not sure there is a baseketball equivalent that we can parallel this to, but I think Doug Elgin deserves some credit for making this happen. It should make for an interesting season.

Just means WSU will be relegated to 2nd or 3rd in the MVC.

I feel confident the Valley will find a way to screw this up. The Valley can't stand to have any of it's member schools dominating, and fair is fair.

My guess, Dallas Baptist will realize that they are better off WITHOUT the Valley, and while everyone inside the MVC thinks that they'll be deciding DBU's fate, DBU will itself decide it's own and sever ties after 2 seasons.

They'll probably enact some insane rule that says DBU's SOS outside of the Valley is too high, and that everyone else will need to schedule down or be penalized.

They're already screwing it up by dragging their feet on it. This was supposed to be finalized and official for the start of next season.

I almost hope the Sun Belt swoops in and steals them just to show us how effing retarded we are for thinking DBU may or may not be good enough for the Valley.

Whomever is calling the shots at Dallas Baptist must be stupid, they need the Valley like they need a hole in their head.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

If I'm not mistaken, the Valley is currently the 7th ranked conference. DBU would help the conference and this years conference would help DBU too.

except that is fools gold - MVC could easily be the 16th ranked conference next year. Just look at past history.

My limited research ability find: Houston Astro's ower "McLane" donates $5 million to DBU for "baseball field renovations".

I was unable to get the link to work also and even difficult to find informaiton on the Houston Chronicle newspaper website.

                            Drayton donates to DBU

Astros owner Drayton McLane has given a $5 million gift to Dallas Baptist University for renovations to the school's baseball field, a person with knowledge of the donation said Tuesday.

DBU advanced to the NCAA Tournament super regionals last season against California, but neither school was able to host because on-campus facilities did not meet NCAA criteria.
The NCAA said DBU's Patriot Stadium did not have adequate lighting for television coverage. The super regional was held at Santa Clara University.
