Other than a very nice 7 game winning streak, including 2 valley road sweeps and a 1 run home victory over Kansas State at home, what exactly have they done to justify a ranking?

I'm not questioning whether they are stronger than WSU, they most certainly are the better team right now, but I am not sure they deserve to be ranked and I have no idea where that 40 rpi comes from.
If WSU had the same record they would be hanging somewhere around the top 20-25 right now. The difference is they beat who they should have beat, while WSU can't.

    Top 50
    CU 1-0, WSU 2-0

    Top 100
    CU 3-3, WSU 2-7

    Top 200
    CU 11-4, WSU 8-8

But in the end for CU, they better win the MVC tournament. They will struggle having a good enough RPI for at-large with SOS of 158 and no quality games really left on the schedule to help build a resume.

They better hope they draw better than the 300+ that showed up for their very last home game ever at the CU sports complex.

300 people would look pretty lonely in a 24,000 seat stadium.

Apparently, that team is still a bit butt-hurt 20 years later.

        I love it!

Great find. They really believed they would have won the national championship if they had only been able to beat WSU.

Many good quotes from this article. It's a long article but it is well worth reading.

“When we swept the regionals,'' outfielder Dax Jones said, “we felt like no one could beat us.''

The one team that had all season did. After Creighton won its opener against Clemson, the Bluejays dropped the 3-2 gut-wrencher to the Shockers, having the tying run thrown out at the plate in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Creighton stayed alive with a 13-4 win over Long Beach State before Wichita State ended the Bluejays' season with an 11-3 victory in the bracket championship game.

“Every postseason loss we had that year was to Wichita State,'' Jones said. “They just had our number.''

I doubt I will be here in another 20 years but the Creighton players will be and to hear them moan about losing to Wichita State 8 times that season is priceless.

By far the greatest team ever at Creighton was Wichita State's b***h that season.

            I love it! :D
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Maybe we can get a repeat 20 years later. At least in the regular season and at Omaha (for the Valley tourney anyway).
