Dane Parker with two 2-run doubles in the inning. Both well struck.
Albert did a really nice job after a shaky 1st inning.

I remember that 1986 game against Ku very well. As I recall it was the first time that Ku played us since Gene re-started the program (they were too snobby to play a new program until then).
We kicked their butts. It was great! And the 1986 team was one of Gene's worst teams ever.

"The Shockers batted around twice and Kevin Hall had a three-run double in WSU's most productive inning since 2003. Johnny Coy hit his first home run and scored five runs on the night."

It has been said that you will see something new every baseball game you watch. I saw two new things:
1) A runner being called safe when Coy dropped the ball when switching hands to throw it around the horn. The runner had been called out and then called safe (like you will often see when a ball is clearly dropped). The big difference is that Coy had already stepped off the bag and was in the motion of getting ready to throw it and just botched the around the horn.
2) Micha Green hit a baseball tonight that had so much English on it that pool players were left scratching their heads. The ball went so far foul that it was outside of the running lane. However it then twisted and came back and was clearly fair. I could have seen the runner blowing that play as they did even in a tie game because you just don't ever see balls going that much foul just turn around and come back fair like that.
(I guess #3 is probably a 14 run inning, I don't think I've ever seen that in person at least)

It was definitely against Hilo. We played Hilo seven times that year, mostly blowing them out. We struggled in three games against Hawaii that year.
It seems like just yesterday, I can't believe that was 8 years ago. :wsu_posters:

That masse' shot by Micah Green was one of the most amazing things I have EVER SEEN IN BASEBALL. I would love to see a replay of it. From my vantage point, the ball was maybe 2 1/2 or 3 feet foul and came back fair just ahead of the base. An additional oddity was that the previous hitter (Arens, I think) similarly cued one along the 1B that was trying to curve back but didn't. I don't think you'll ever see a batted ball move that much on the ground, EVER.
Decent "feel good" game overall. The runs were nice, although 14 BB and 4 HBP really helped the Shox. The Alcorn pitchers were throwing mostly BP type speed, so it wasn't a great test. Should help clear some minds a little, though. Once Minnis shook the nerves, he was good. We need him badly if Kelley isn't 100%.
