I see Grimes is throwing the ball around the yard again tonight.
Unfortunately he isn't the only one.
Doesn't matter....I simply don't understand how someone else has not been given a shot at SS.
Over .500 OB%
scoring runs are meaningless if you give them right back with errors.
also he can DH or move to the outfield. I promise you that a baseball team can not win consistently with a terrible fielding (throwing in this case) SS.

IMHO, what doesn't matter is whether we try someone else at SS or not. Either way we are simply not a good baseball team right now.
The way we are playing and with or without Tyler at SS we may struggle to finish 4th in the MVC this year.
So just ignore his consistent errors at short because they suck anyways?
I like Grimes a lot but it is more than obvious that he has some issues at SS. I guess Gene will just wait for another season and a half till he graduates to fix the problem.

Gene sees these guys everyday in practice, I don't. So I don't have a clue whether or not he really has any viable options or not. I suspect that Tyler actually has produced a few more runs than he has given up contrary to your assertions. Is he making too many errors. Hell yes. Do we have any better options. I don't know, apparently Gene doesn't think so or he may be worried jerking around with Tyler's confidence could impact his offense, which we don't have a lot of. However, Tyler is not the biggest problem with this team at this point in time IMO.
Grimes is fielding .910.Move him to left and give Parker a Chance at SS.Were not exactly getting huge production at the plate from Green/Stucky/Hege.It's worth a shot.If Harbutz was healthy this wouldn't be such an issue.
I know there's more issues surrounding this team than just Grimes muffing balls at SS, but I'd really like to see a mix-up or something, just to see what if. It definitely couldn't hurt. It definitely wouldn't matter short term if it cost us another meaningless non-con game. Keep Grimes with a bat, but get him off the field. At least just for once. At least TRY IT.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Where would we be without O'Brien? He's been the only one that can hit with any consistency. Ahhh...remember the days when we had most, if not all, of the starting lineup hitting over .300.
O'Brien 3 for 5, 6 RBI
Grimes 2 for 3, HR(2), 3 RBI
Lambert 4 for 5, 2B, 2x3B
Labrie 3.1 IP, 0 R, 4 K, 2 BB
The Bad
Sossamon 0.2 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 H
McGreevy 0.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER
The Ugly
WSU Defense 4 Errors, 5 unearned runs
Beringer 3.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Grimes Fld% - down to 0.910
Coy Batting Avg - Up to 0.246
To add to your list:
On the good side Grimes also walked 3 times and scored 4 runs. He was on base 5 of 6 times and he stole 2 bases.
On the bad side a couple things not reflected in the box score. There were 1 or 2 other defensive plays that could have been ruled errors but weren't. One on Johnny Coy and one on Walker Davidson. On the base paths Preston Springer was doubled off 2nd on a line drive to an infielder. Didn't see the game so I am mostly going from the description and comments by Mike and Shane.
Aaron Labrie showed you could pitch to these guys if you understand the art of pitching.
Chris O'Brien is showing that you can hit the ball well enough with the new bats if you are a solid hitter.
I hope Albert Minnis shows us something tonight because we could sure use something positive about now.
I don't want Tyler replaced at SS because right now I don't believe we have any better options. Wished that we did. Not sure why Tyler has become the whipping boy for this year's team. Yes, he has definitely had his defensive lapses (making an error about every other game), but there is more than enough poor performances in every phase of the game to spread the blame around (and spread it pretty thick).
They talked about Flynn in the Dreifort role, but that so far hasn't worked all that well (when he was in that role, before starting more). How about LaBrie being in the "Noah Booth role". A guy that just knows how to pitch, doesn't have the overwhelming, radar light up stuff, but just gets the job done, by mixing speeds, hitting his spots and throwing strikes.
