I think the win at Oral Roberts kind of spoiled the team and some fans. I think most people thought that win at Oral Roberts would lead to a breakout season. I'm starting to think it was just a fluke and we just caught Oral Roberts on a down game. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
I don't think the Oral Roberts was it, I think it was the 2 game sweep of Arizona that teased the fans into thinking this team had a chance to change the direction of the program.
Plus I don't think "spoiled" is right term for the fans. This program has not spoiled the fans by being good for many years now.
OK Arizona, that works. But I'm not sure how many fans really expected us to be Oral Roberts either. Yes sb shock, this team has been good for a long time. But in the past few years they have gradually been declining. I'm just saying, I think the wins against Arizona and Oral Roberts got the fans (and the players) thinking that this could be the year they make it back to Omaha. That's my point.

And I think it is a valid point and I agree with it.
Shanes believes that small ball is now dead in college baseball (I guess due to bat changes) and the new thing is "stolen base" - this is after another hawaii stolen base to get player in scoring position.
Hawaii single, Hege throws to the wrong base and runners now on 2nd and 3rd.
Hawaii 3, Shox 2
Gene just ejected.
He's chest bumping the umpires all the way off the field.
Actually it appeared more like the one ump was chest bumping Gene to keep him away from the other one. It was a terrible call.
It appeared to me that the guy was clearly out (but he is Hawaii's big star player and I think the homer ump gave him the benefit of the doubt).
In looking at the upcoming schedule. I'm predicting a 17 and 12 finish for the remainder of the season for an overall record of 35 and 23 season. Perhaps I should break out JoBu.
It looks like the magic JoBu may be the only thing that can save the season.
Beyond the offensive and defensive struggles, there really aren't any bodies to put in for guys who aren't getting it done. There are two subs for IF, plus a couple guys that can play 1B. There doesn't seem to be a "defensive" replacement available for IF - none have demonstrated they are any better than they guys playing. There are like 5 OF and none of the back-up options has hit a lick.
This is looking a lot like the '09 team - a really shallow pool to draw from.

Are we certain that as a collective, this team is underachieving? Based on the performances in the past 22 games, I would seriously question this. These trends of stirkeouts, walks, poor hitting and errors are no longer anomalies but trends.
The Shox are now 11 and 11 in the past 22 games. At the halfway point of the season, this team is not playing at mid-season form. Let's face it, this team is not underachieving, they are simply not very good in terms of past Shocker teams and in comparison to their college baseball peers - just average.

Am I good or what? Although I don't know how I overlooked two games! Anyone want some solid advice?
