This team is seriously so unbelievable. I may find myself following the freaking Royals this spring.

What a disappointing group of underachievers! I have been hopeful that some of the local kids could/would breathe some toughness and life back into this program. Looks like I'm wrong again!

It appears to me that Grimes needs to either find a home in the outfield or on the bench. It also appears to me that we need to either recruit hitters that can/will make adjustments to limit strikeouts. Whatever happened to choking up and spreading out with 2 strikes? Is this not taught anymore? Or are we just not recruiting players who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team?

Normally, strike throwing pitchers are a staple of this program but now even that has appeared to be lost.

I'm frustrated and am going to quit this post before I really say something stupid. :rant:

Maybe they are a group of underachievers and maybe they just aren't very good. I'm not sure which. Maybe a little bit of both at play here.

Is it unreasonable to hold out just a little hope that they will get things turned around yet this season, or is that just being naive? Again I'm not sure.

anybody know why Gene got tossed? This means an automatic one game suspension for Gene and Brent next game, right? Or is that just for Valley games?

Maybe he couldn't take watching his team play like crap anymore and wanted to go home early?

I believe it was on a tag play at second base on Carlton Wong who had singled then went to second on a throw trying to get a runner going to third.

Grimes seemed adamant that he got the tag in time and Gene came out to argue that point.

I think Gene asked the ump if he could get tossed based on what he was thinking. The ref said no, and Gene said good because I'm thinking you suck. Oh wait, that was Jim Valvano although I don't know why more coaches don't use that one.

Lol, that's one of my favorite lines ever. I think if a coach ever said that to me, I'd have to bust a gut laughing before I ejected him. And oh yes, he would get ejected, but he'd get a nice laugh outta me first.

And I agree 100% about Grimes. I thought he was gonna be somebody at WSU, but he's turned out to be a bust. I know we don't like speculations on the board, but I've heard rumors that his girlfriend dumped him a while back and he's been in a funk ever since. Don't know if that's true or not

Are we certain that as a collective, this team is underachieving? Based on the performances in the past 22 games, I would seriously question this. These trends of stirkeouts, walks, poor hitting and errors are no longer anomalies but trends.

The Shox are now 11 and 11 in the past 22 games. At the halfway point of the season, this team is not playing at mid-season form. Let's face it, this team is not underachieving, they are simply not very good in terms of past Shocker teams and in comparison to their college baseball peers - just average.

In looking at the upcoming schedule. I'm predicting a 17 and 12 finish for the remainder of the season for an overall record of 35 and 23 season. Perhaps I should break out JoBu.

I think the win at Oral Roberts kind of spoiled the team and some fans. I think most people thought that win at Oral Roberts would lead to a breakout season. I'm starting to think it was just a fluke and we just caught Oral Roberts on a down game. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
