Yes, I know it was North Dakota, and I know it was their first game of the year, and I know they probably have not been outside much, if at all, and I know it was cold as hell.

But a 1-hitter is still pretty solid.

    :good: :goshocks:

We are averaging 10 runs per game and have a staff ERA of 0.60.

      So far, so good. :good:

I like keeping things in perspective. Racking up runs and lowering ERA's against the Nancy's and Mary's of college baseball doesn't exactly mean we are CWS bound. But yes, so far so good.

Although we would be bitching and moaning if we were winning 5-4 so at least we are racking up the runs on teams we should.

I braved every out.Crazy thing is my wife did as well and when I wanted to leave in the top of the 9th,she said we couldn't leave because she hadn't seen Vielock pitch yet.I'd have a great wife if she wasn't a Yankee fan.

I made it to the game in the 3rd and stayed until the end. Shocker hitters were K'ed 1 time the hole game. I like that! I like the big lead. We get to see the freshman play like the 4-6-3 double play by Coughenour to Halbert to Coy. Both also got hits.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

Normally in this situation you'd say we can put up the good numbers against the Niagara's and North Dakota's of the world, but not against Oral Roberts.

                Can't say that this year.

That makes her a great, great wife. :good:

Props to everyone who made it out to the park today. You guys are a hardy bunch.

Great game by the team in cruel conditions as well.

Hopefully better weather in store for tomorrow and Sunday.

I don't recall a game where the air temperature was so cold. It is just a good thing the wind was from a direction where you could be out of it and it wasn't galing.

There were sections of the stadium closed due to ice (upper grandstand above the clubhouse), and there was thaw salt sprinkled everywhere.

I actually made it out for the first pitch, but once the no-no was gone I had had enough. Sat behind home plate and watched another couple innings then left. I forgot about the early start and didn't take extra socks to work and my dogs were frozen (among other things). It was c-c-c-cold.

Lowell was pretty sharp most of the time. He had a couple short lapses but was able to focus again.

The hitters seem to be locked in really well. The ND pitchers were a variety of mostly junk ballers and there weren't a lot of wasted swings by the Shox hitters. O'Brien continues to hit the ball hard and the rest of the guys are showing a lot of patient aggression at the plate. Grimes, Springer and Harbutz had nice efforts at the plate.

Forecasts for today are all over the place, anywhere from 40 to 55. Winds are low and from the SE, so today should be a little better. Sunday will be good, if the t-storms wait 'til 4pm or so.

I won't be seeing the first pitch today. Gotta see the basketball Shocks win the league!!!

                    Go Shox and Go Shocks!!
