The paraphenalia found was two glass pipes - with residue. I have no familiarity with ingesting Xanax, but I wouldn't expect anyone to be smoking it. Stuff smoked in glass pipes that leaves residue is usually vegetable-based - pot, crack, opium. The exception is crystal meth.
I'm speculating that Bragg is the guy named in the portion of the police report that was not made public. That news hit media today, the day after Bragg was suspended. Timing seems more than a coincidence. The report on the parphenalia makes no connection between the paraphenalia and the alleged rape. The report says that the paraphenalia was found during the search related to the rape, but was not necessarily involved in the rape. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Then the speculation gets really interesting. Police aren't going to start searching random rooms. If Bragg is connected to the paraphenalia issue, which is only speculation, it's not even rumored, then the police search included his "dorm room"*. The logical conclusion is that either the alleged incident took place in his room or the alleged victim had reason to tell the police about Bragg's "dorm room"*.
Even if the event took place in Bragg's room, if the alleged victim didn't mention the drugs, then any paraphenalia found would not be related to the reported incident. It would be something found unrelated to the event, which is precisely how it's being reported.
* In his press conference, Self called the living facilities for his players "apartments", then quickly corrected that to "dorm room". I imagine there's one term used to describe the accommodations to players and another used for the media.
It takes a fingerprint scan to get into the building, or someone already inside to allow access. You have to have a monitor to move between floors in that "dorm". that level of security hints that the basketball contingent in the "dorm" has their own floor. There's nothing going down the drain quite yet, but there's starting to be a swoirling motion above the drain.
If the girl was a KU student it would be easy to make it go away, but not for a 16-year-old.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

One of the problems with having super schwanky apartments for just your basketball team is that when something happens in said super schwanky apartment complex, the entire team is pretty much immediately implicated, whether justly or not. Unintended consequence perhaps, but completely predictable.

I said you mean when KU's own website says you need fingerprint scanners to get in thats not extra? KU's on website calls them dorms and states even Bill Self said he cannot get into them unless someone lets him in... etc etc.
He also said of course since I was in Wichita I had no idea... (even though he is from Wichita and went to KU and lives in kc area... surprise??).
He as usual staunchly tries to defend KU on everything, even obvious stuff like this.
He also tries to act like these are normal "apartments". I corrected him and said they are the basketball team dorms with a few sprinkled in random students to make them legal. No other dorm has a 25 seat theater, stocked kitchen, fingerprint scanners, lounge, basketball court, etc

I'm confident the campus police, the Lawrence police and the District Attorney's office are going to take enough time to dot their i's and cross their t's on the rape case. It takes time to thoroughly investigate to make sure that there's a case that can be won, to see if the 16-year-old girls is willing to stand up to having her entire sexual history brought up in court, and to see if the athletic department can come up with a suitable method of making the charges go away. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
