CU fans blaming bad coaching for this loss and others this season. I wonder if Coach Mac could do something genetically to save his job? After all it was genetics that got Creighton to get all of those one and done tournament appearances a few years back. If so, he better get busy and hurry.

It seems like last year some were finally coming to terms with the fact that McDermott was a problem and not a solution. He's had them all fooled this year and if they have a winning record in the Big East I think that's enough for them to not even consider making a change. As much as I hate Creighton, I do think they are a sleeping giant.

In all seriousness. What have they ever done? Yes. MVC championships and all. But where is anything spectacular or overachievment of any kind?

They rode Douggy for 4 years, and he was good, but they never have stood out.

Maybe I just don't get it. But when WSU was terrible, I didn't long for consecutive years of MVC success and NCAA 2nd round appearances.

I longed for what my team is giving me now!! A final 4. Sweet 16s. Beating KU in the tournament. Complete and utter freaking dominance in conference. Top 25 rankings.

They're 33rd in KenPom right now. 5 of their 7 losses have all been within 7 points, with the worst of those an 87-74 loss at KP #1 Oklahoma. 4 of those have been by 3 or less.

Decent majority of losses due to close game luck/variance. Not doing great in terms of resume for the NCAA tournament, but it seems like they're a decent team. Certainly not a reason to even think about firing McDermott.

They haven't done anything in the past, no, but I do think they have a ton of potential. There aren't many (any?) schools that can pull in 15k fans to watch a bad team and/or to drink beer. There aren't that many that can pull in 20k for a decent team. I guess I don't know anything about their facilities or finances but I've just assumed they were fine in that department. Even if they aren't right now, the Big East money will help get them there. The mid-major conference they're in just makes it easier for them. Villanova and Xavier are really the only schools I would expect to win consistently in that conference, everyone else is very meh. Creighton is doing just fine in conference play this year and they aren't even good.

I guess I'm just not seeing what is dragging Creighton down right now, besides their coach. If I'm missing something, point it out to me. I would much rather think they're destined to mediocrity forever.
