The chickenhawks and mildcats have a vested intrest in keeping WSU down. It increases their portion of the limited Kansas tax payer funded pie. I don't know how the B12 is setup interms of admitting new members, but if one or two universities can block entry, the chickenhawks and mildcats would. And they'd probably lie, cheat and steal, to get OU and OSU on their side. That way the two of them can continue with their pompous depiction of WSU as the ugly little step-sister that just doesn't belong at the Ball.

I know it seems like that, and with KU you are probably not far off. I don't think KSU would push back at all though. I don't remember them getting political to undermine WSU in recent decades.

As to state funding, is it really tied to the conference affiliation or success of the sports programs at the school? Or you are thinking that with this success will come increased awareness and enrollment numbers which will divert a larger portion of the funds toward WSU?

Agree with your first paragraph. Mildcats are not quite as arrogant as chickenhawks.

In your second paragraph; I think greater success leads to a greater following and a higher enrollment (if you build it, they will come), which at least potentially, diverts state funds away from KU to WSU. And of course, higher enrollment means even more money for WSU to do even more things like compete with KU for even more students. And then allowing WSU into the B12 would be tantamount to saying; yes, WSU has arrived. That I believe would make it even easier to for WSU to compete with KU for funding (both state and private). Keep going in that direction, and it becomes much easier for the state to agree to fund something like, oooooooooh, I don't know, maybe something like; The Wichita State University School Of Medicine. The flagship institution would have a heart attack over that one.

That's not the case anymore. I think they've signed a truce of sorts.

DAMN! A battle to see which one could donate the most money to WSU is a battle I'd love to see.

Darn, that was a good fight while it lasted!

I thought it was cool too see another MVC (MVFC, that is) school get another win over KU today. It just seems to happen so much :)

I thought the same thing. End the basketball season with a loss and start the football season with a loss to the MVC.

But make no mistake... They also lost to the "good one" in 2010.

By the same margin if I'm not mistaken. Is it possible that going to NDSU or even SDSU is a better move as an athlete than going D-1 at KU

There was a fabulous fake Gregg account a few years ago.

But the statements made are very real, nevertheless :)
