I'd like to hear @SubGod22:'s and @ShockRef:'s thoughts after watching the defender. Is this a defensive foul, charge, or no call? And I am talking about "letter of the law", not "well that never gets called" type of response.

To me, it looks like a foul. He's not completely planted until the offensive player is in the air.

It doesn't matter if the shooter is in the air. At that point he is just an airborne shooter. He can release the ball before contact, make the basket, it count and still be called for a charge.

If the defender establishes position before contact his made, outside the circle, then it is a charge.

The defender was shuffling his feet to get to the point of contact, but was a bang bang call, that usually goes against defender.

I say charge. I think the defender was set. Regarding the circle, I think it only applies to a secondary defender.

Haven't seen the video yet, but the defender has to be there before the shooter leaves the court.

Flop big time by the sCUm player no doubt about it.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

"Antoine Young is going to remember that the rest of his career. He's going to dream about that tonight for all the wrong reasons".

Young's choices were to either flop or have a jock strap dragged across his face. In this situation, I think it was a good decision for the defender to attempt to avoid contact.

I honestly think we're looking at a charging call if any call was going to be made. His feet are set and contact is made on his right shoulder it appear

Also, let it be known that it was fun watching a sCUm become a boy!
"Ralph Miller was one of the finest coaches in the history of intercollegiate basketball. His teams were always fundamentally sound, team oriented, well conditioned, and ran both their offense and defense with great patience. I know of no coach whose teams competed against his, whether it be at Wichita State, Iowa, or Oregon State, who did not have great respect for him."—John Wooden

1st Item - A secondary defender issue does not come into play on a break.

2nd Item - It was a either a no-call or a block, as the offensive player made an attempt to avoid the contact plus it appears the defender tried to establish a legal guarding position after the offensive player left the floor.

Additionally, we look for an offensive player to 'go through the body' on a PC call and that obviously did not occur on this play.

                        That is all.
Above all, make the right call.
