    Or going to 14--

    East: Davidson
    West: San Diego St.

The SDSU idea would be good one, but travel and time zones could be an issue. Could add a number of teams including UTA, Oral Roberts, Etc.
That would be a heckuva conference.

      • Not a huge fan of Drake and Temple is going to the BE and I'm sure will stick with the football schools of whatever happens there.

I'll bet you any amount of money that if the BE 7 pull three teams from the A10, SLU, Dayton and Butler will not all be left in the A10. The idea that both Richmond AND Duquesne would be taken over all of these programs is ridiculous.

Many believe the MVC will try again for St. Louis, adding Dayton to get us to 12. If the MVC decides to try to get to 14, then it is believed we will try to get UTA and Utah State. I don't think that will happen for the same reason the eastern schools would not approve Dallas Baptist. Utah State also has FB.

Two people, not in contact with each other, seem to think that St. Louis, Creighton, Dayton, and Wichita State will partner with some left out A-10 schools and Big East schools. They believe there will be 5-8 solid programs that can partner with a couple other schools to save the A-10 and rebrand it.
Honestly, who are these people? They seem to have almost zero knowledge of the football landscape. Utah St? C'mon.

Not to mention that the idea that SLu, Dayton and Butler would all be left after the Big East raids the conference is insane.

              You need some new people.

              • WSU should probably try and get into the mix here..... if it ultimately pans out:

The new conference would likely be a 12-team basketball-based league, although the five new schools to be added to the group of Villanova, Marquette, Georgetown, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall and DePaul are not certain right now.
A cadre of Atlantic-10 schools, including Xavier, Butler, Dayton, St. Louis, along with Creighton of the Missouri Valley Conference are the most likely candidates.

                • UT State is going to the MWC, and there is absolutely no way they would reconsider for the Valley. No way.

However, I'm not sure the BE will be all that interested in SLU or Dayton. I would think Butler would not be one of their top picks from the A-10 but is probably higher on their list than most (private but not Catholic). I doubt they are interested at all in VCU (public school).

The consensus among all the people in the know, and the ones that think they are is that they will only go to 10.

Which 3 make the most sense right now? They want catholic, private, and geographically fitting to control cost the first few years while recovering from the lack of NCAA funds.

                    • When all these realignments get finalized over the next few years, what will that mean for the student who just wants to get an education? Are educational costs going to increase as a result? Or will costs actually go down?

                        Does that answer your question?

                        • What's the cause of all that? Increased athletic costs?
