  • Is Obama a Reluctant Christian?

If you are a member of a religious group and you are fully on-board with their teachings, wouldn't you be proud of it? Wouldn't you be confident in what you claim to believe? Wouldn't it be easy to profess your committment?

Given that, why would the White House say that Barack Obama is, beyond question, a Christian because he prays daily and meets very regularly with...wait for it...a religious advisor.

    Religious Advisor?
Which Christian denomination calls their clergy "religious advisors"?
Which Christian denomination has a "religious advisor" deliver the sermon to the congregation?
Which Christian denomination has a "religious advisor" perform funerals and marriages?

Mr. President, if you are Christian, why do you seem so reluctant? You seem almost embarrassed by it. Like you were forced into it because it was the right thing to do politically. Ouch, did I say that? Surely, it's not true.

You chastise some of us for "clinging to guns and religion"? Does that mean you do not have a religion or do not need a religion?

You claim to be Christian but why do you rarely, if ever mention Jesus Christ and what he means to you? You say you pray to 'my God' but we're really not sure you pray to Jehovah, the God of the Israelites, the God of Abraham. What would it take for you to say the name of the God in which you believe? Shouldn't it be easy?

What did you pray to in Jeremiah Wright's Black Liberation Theology church? Is that your proof that you are Christian? Even Rev. Wright is a converted Muslim. One of your "religious advisors" contributed to the writings of Muslims. And this is all tied into the Imam in NYC.

Mr. President, what is real? What do you believe? Who are you?

It's a simple question, one you should be able to answer with your patented "Let me be clear" phrase.
Tell us, does your "religious advisor" have a title?
Surely he is a pastor or a priest.
Pick one and state it proudly. You can do that, right?
An honest, committed Christian man could.

As a confessed believer, I would like to encourage our President with these verses:

      Matthew 10:32,33

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven."

      2 Timothy 2:11-13

      Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him.
If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
      -John Wooden

A lot of people call themselves Christians but don't do anything to show it or truly try to live it. I forget the percentages, but most of the country will claim Christianity, but a much smaller percentage truly tries to adhere to the principles of it. I'm guessing our president is one of these.

Without freedom the soul dies. Without the soul there is no is no justification for freedom. You don't have to believe - to have a soul. The concept is universal. Get it?

"I'm rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people. - Barack Obama
              What he just said is:

"I have lived among the Christians and know of them. I believe there is a God, but there are many ways to get to that god".

Based on that you can only conclude that Obama is a false prophet.

If your a Christian then you have to be guided by what the bible says and unequivocally it says there is only one way to heaven and that is through Yeshua (Jesus).

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all …” (1 Timothy 2:5)

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25)

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36)

“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” (1 John 4:14)

To be a Christian you must believe:

              1. Jesus was God (100% man, but 100% God)
              2. Jesus went to the cross as a propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for our sins
              3. He died on that cross and then rose again in 3 days.

If you believe (have faith) in these things, repent of your sins, confess your sins in prayer, and ask for forgiveness for your sins - you will be forgiven.

From what I've read, he was baptized at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

From White House spokesman Bill Burton: The President is obviously a Christian. He prays every day.

Are Christians the only ones who pray? Mr. Burton, what does that statement really prove?

I agree with all that you said except for a couple of things. One being the "one way to heaven". I'm not saying there's more than one way. I'm saying we don't go to heaven. Instead, heaven comes to us.

Jesus said, "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." (John 3:13)

Even David, a man after God's own heart (Acts 13:22), didn't go to heaven.

Peter said, "For David did not ascend into the heavens,... (Acts 2:34)

Heaven actually comes to us. John said, "Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. (Rev 21:2-3)

The other point is that it takes more than belief to be a Christian. Even the demons believe that Jesus is God and that he went to the cross, died, and rose after the third day. Of course that's better than what some believe today, who think Jesus was only in the grave about half that time, from Friday evening to Sunday morning.

You also have to follow up that belief by being baptized (Acts 2:38 ) and then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands. Acts (8:18 )

Who cares whether or not he is a Christian? If someone could provide me with definitive proof that the resurrection never happened – I might have to convert to Judaism.

What the man does is what matters not his faith.

Yeah....and.......what does that have to do with his faith? I don’t presume to know what is in the man’s heart – that is between him and the Creator.

His actions are the problem. Like everything else, Obama portrays himself as one thing but his actions reveal him as something quite different.

According to a scholar I know, Jesus' resurrection is possibly the most-documented event in that period in history. It would be very difficult to prove that the resurrection never happened. Therefore, I doubt a conversion is in your future.
