  • Iran Annicersary 'Punch' will stun the West: Khamenei

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

President Ahmadi-nejad told a cabinet meeting yesterday that Iran will deliver a harsh blow to the “global arrogance” on this year’s anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
This should be interesting to see what great things the Iranians have in store - more missile launch photos that are poorly altered? Repainted F5? Or brutal violence on their own people who are protesting their government or will the government actually pay their employees salaries this week?

Fortunately, we now have Barack Obama as President we're no longer seen as an arrogant country so they will blow France off the face of the earth and leave us alone. Thank you, Your Majesty, for saving us once again.

It should be an “interesting” day today.

So they made an announcement and bloodied more of their citizens. How is that different than any other day in Iran?

              The world seems under whelmed.

The "world" shouldn’t be - the continued protests are important. They demonstrate that the Iranian people are not intimidated by the regime. Iran is a tinderbox; the question is now the degree to which the Revolutionary Guards, et als can put out the sparks before they become a conflagration.

Our government should not sit on the sidelines “bearing witness” .

                  Timber box?! Try tinderbox.

In conventional usage, the term "tinderbox" refers to something that is so dry that it could catch on fire with the slightest provocation, perhaps even spontaneously like a forest fire. It is also used to describe a potentially volatile or violent situation.

                    Correction made. :good:

Thanks for the proof (the link was very helpful); it was generous of you to take the time to point out my silly, amusing, but ultimately inexcusable typing error.

Everyone makes mistakes from time to time – especially when they are doing too many things at once. Anyway, it is good to know you are looking out for me.

A little bit of teasing - but certainly not much as I only typed 4 words ;-) .

Actually, I didnt think it was a typo but figured you had just misheard it spoken by someone else (or they said it incorrectly). Easy to do.

Nothing wrong with a little teasing :) (and I was amused) – because I make my living, in part, through the written word when I make mistakes like that it bugs me.

It was not a typo in that I misspelled a word: My brain said “tinderbox” (I even thought “Did I really write timber?” when I read your post) but my fingers typed “timber box” – and I didn’t review what I wrote. So I really don’t know what you call it.

I blame my niece who runs around my sister-in-law’s apartment screaming “timmmmbbbbber” while falling on the sofa – cute for a while but gets old really fast – to the point where you hear it in your sleep. :banghead:
