Comey giving a different opening statement. Comey says he was confused by his firing. He said Trump told him he was doing a "Great Job". He feels defamed.

He says no doubt about Russians trying to influence election. But he also says there is no doubt that no votes were changed either.

Was Flynn in legal jeopardy and was Trump trying to obstruct justice? Yes Flynn was in legal jeopardy and it will be up to the special counsel to decide if Trump tried to obstruct justice.

Is it normal for foreign government to reach out to new incoming government or would it be collusion? Yes it is normal. They would be concerned if their is coercion or co-opting or if somebody was trying to keep contacts hidden.

Says he was confused by Obama attorney general when she told him to call the investigation into Hillary to be a "matter" and not an investigation. That why he felt he needed to pre-empt the justice department in July to protect both the justice department and fbi.

Now the vice chairman asking questions. Comey did written statements for all 9 conversations. He has only talked about 4 or 5? So Trump might need to be worried about the other 4 or 5. Because maybe Mueller didn't want him to talk about those conversations if they are pursuing obstruction of justice.

I am wondering why they don't ask about the detail of those conversations.

It is true Trump was not a target of counter-intelligence investigation - but the nature of these investigation is that can change depending on how it unfolds.

The matter thing is fishy.


Comey just stated that he kept the documents of the meetings because of thr nature of trump and because trump might lie.

Unusual, but not unheard of. Comey was uncomfortable with Trump's character, he wanted to maintain his integrity, so he kept notes.

I have known/seen this before with other individuals.

What makes this special (and potentially damaging for Trump), his expository notes/recollections of meetings are admissible in a court of law because he was in law enforcement.
