You really don't look very good making overly broad comments. It takes a lot of smarts to get through UC Berkley. I have a very conservative friend, you would probably like him, ex-Marine Corps officer, who graduated with honors with a liberal arts degree from UC Berkley. He's now the manager of cybersecurity for a rather large company whose name you would instantly recognize if I said it.

Perhaps there is a large segment of those types of kids at that school, but don't lump everyone into the same genetically-deficient pool. Also note there is a large segment of foreigners attending UC-Berkley who will graduate and go on to be H1B tech slaves. They're probably not involved in the looting and burning (they'd be deported if they did, I suspect), but they're not from here and they did not like Trump's pronouncement.

I'm thinking that the kids making the most racket live with intelligence-challenged parents who did not make them accountable, so now that they're young adults, they go through life looking for excuses to loot, vandalize and steal. And they're probably not smart enough to get into UC-Berkley.

I'll bet many of them are Berkley students.

There are the students and there is this ANTIFA group.

I would agree with you if we were discussing the University of Kansas. Exhibit 1 is their basketbrawl team.

My main point was that I disagreed with the equivalence you were drawing between a guy on LinkedIn saying he thought people should stop complaining about Trump being president with people who were stopping somebody from speaking at their university through violence and fear while calling themselves "anti-fascist." There is no equivalence between those. One is an opinion, the other was hindering somebody else's 1st Amendment rights.

Was my statement overly broad on UC Berkeley? This university is repeatedly having incidents like this whenever people like Milo, Ben Shapiro, David Horowitz attempt to have an event on this campus. Of course there are exceptions at this university, not all of the students are like this. But with the faculty, administration and student body, the leftist agenda is at the forefront. You see it in things like with their divestment of Israel and from preventing speakers from holding events routinely. It's a problem in academia throughout the country really.

Generalizations like this are always helpful. Rolls eyes.

Milo is radical. The protesters are radical. I agree with neither one but wish that there was an environment where people could peacefully express themselves without hearing about the useless SJWs that need to get a real job or the xenophobic, racist Republicans who are conspiring with Russia.

It's very hard to have political conversation in 2017. You find people who completely eat up the Huffington Post and then on the other side the Breitbart crew. It would be nice if centrists took more of a prominent role in the discourse. That was kind of my New Year's resolution for 2017: doing everything I can to understand political views that I disagree with and engaging their proponents in a friendly dialogue.

                So much projection.

They've convinced themselves that those who don't prescribe to Progressive orthodoxy and are persuasive about it, are the true fascists and are deserving of violence.

These same people are so concerned about triggering Islamists, that they will commit terrorism themselves.

Whether this is mental illness or worldview, the results are the same.

Good points here. I didn't see this before I made my post.

Look back through your posts. You half name drop all the time. You're either the most well connected human on the planet or a serial liar. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe everything you say. I'm just going to suggest that you watch what you say, because as many people as you know in high places, someone is going to be watching. I'd hate for you to end up another Vince Foster.

                    By the way....just guessing...are you about 5'1" and 1/4?

I also find it funny that the 'anarchists' are basically rioting in favor of stronger central government control, ie the Democrats. It is completely ass backwards, from where I see it.

They're just pissed because Trump won the election. Something or other to do with "privilege".

Chancellor Dirks and the UC Berkeley administration deserve to be held accountable for the violence, and for the betrayal of free speech.

And it wasn't the students. It was the faculty. Something about honoring diversity.

                          Is Milo REALLY that radical?

I mean, what makes him radical? That he's gay, speaks with an accent or has a fetish for black men? Or just that he thinks people like screamers and criers and car burners are off base? I've heard him several times, and he's more humorous than anything, but I don't think I'd call him radical.

I have many conservative friends, none as well connected or important as @shaka khan's, and they all enjoy Milo and think he's a good guy. None of them care about who he sleeps with. Maybe it's about Liberal ideas, and not race, sexual orientation, color etc.? Just an idea.

Milo is obviously just a troll. He is "famous" for riling people up. If you're gay and you actively talk about how bad it is to be gay, your actions are meant to provoke.

All that to say, he's obviously pretty good at it. The best thing liberals could do is just ignore him. It's like punching a Westboro Baptist member; that's what they count on.

I guess I haven't listened to him that much then.

Clearly he's better at trolling than the lunatics he trolls. That's why I find him humorous. But his ideas aren't that crazy.

I read last night that the police were told to stand down. If that's the case, it's sadly not an unusual way to handle rioters anymore. A mayor last year, Cleveland or Baltimore maybe?, did a press conference during a riot saying to give them space and let the rioters get their anger out.

                                Question:

If your property was burned and the mayor gave a stand down order for the police, would you have a case for suing the city for damages? Could they not be viewed as complicit in allowing this to happen?
