Trump's stealing the good ones out of the Kansas delegation.
Makes a lot of sense though. Moran is one the most qualified people in the nation for this particular job as the chairman of the Senate agriculture subcommittee, which is a lot better than Huelskamp who lost a hundred-year history of Kansas sitting on house Agriculture committee or Brownback who hasn't been deeply involved since he served as Kansas's Ag. Secretary in 1993 (though I think everyone in Kansas, liberal or conservative, would love to see Brownback take the position).

well, maybe not those who are involved in agriculture

You're a hardcore establishment GOP guy to the bone, aren't you?
Huelskamp gave the middle finger to a lot of crony capitalist special interests in the ag sector. That's exactly the general bent most Trump supporters want for the Federal Government. Can't say I blame them.
Moran's a quality guy, but the opposite of a political outsider, really.

Huelskamp was a lot of things, but him being kicked off the Ag committee was a purely political move because it is an easy sound bite to run on low info voters to ruin his incumbency (Marshall did a textbook job with that ad though). He stood up to the establishment and committed political suicide. Don't hang his refusal to go along to get along out as a negative.

I lost all respect for Moran when he sponsored a bill that would allow the goverment to keep tax returns instead of issuing checks under the guise of a rainy day savings acct. All it would do is turn into a bunch of IOUs.

It will be interesting to see who is picked to fill Pompeo's spot in Congress.
Believe there will be a general election, no primary.

A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."

No, I agree that what happened to Huelskamp was A: Not his fault, and B: Political bullshit. But still, Moran is on an agriculture committee (and of course, served on the same House Ag Committee as a Representative)

I've been accused of many things, but this is the first time I've been called a hardcore establishment GOP guy. I identify most with the Rand Paul "wing" (more of a corner office) of the Republican party than with the Moran/Priebus people, but I trust the latter group to mostly responsibly govern and I don't particularly desire massive shifts away from the libertarian side of the party to the social conservatives. I fundamentally don't trust Trump, Pence, or Sessions to leave me alone or to run the country with sound economic policy, whereas I can at least tolerate the status quo of the Republican party to greater or lesser extent.
I have some friends and relatives in Western Kansas. They say no one likes Huelskamp out there where they know him best (except maybe you guys). They referred to him as a bomb thrower but that may be what you guys want. The problem is I don't know if he can win again out there.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
