Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I've been fairly quiet through this whole thing, mostly because I am the "extreme" right and I don't feel like constantly backing up my position every time I post. I think/hope what PEDT is doing is making sure he has 100% control over the house and senate for two years. He needs to get a lot of stuff done in a short amount of time and we have seen that even though the GOP controls congress, **** don't get done. "Selling out" to the GOP makes sense from a business perspective. When there is a takeover, you don't immediately replace all the key people with new. You work with them and learn from them and when they are no longer useful you drain the swamp.
And don't put any stock in Gowdy not being AG. He never wanted it.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov

Jeff Sessions for AG and Pompeo for CIA seem like solid selections to me, but not exactly swamp draining.
I get that he'll be criticized no matter what (too slow, too fast, too mainstream, not qualified etc etc) and that's ok. Bottom line is that he needs to govern effectively.
It will be interesting to see who is picked to fill Pompeo's spot in Congress.

1. He is getting this job solely because he was the first Senator to endorse Trump
Ever hear of the spoils system? If not, find a US History textbook and turn to the section covering 1829-1880. A spoils system (also known as a patronage system) is a practice in which a political party, after winning an election, gives government jobs to its supporters, friends and relatives as a reward for working toward victory, and as an incentive to keep working for the party. It is opposed to a merit system. Each and every person that supported Trump for his anti-corruption talk should be furious that he is blatantly abusing his power to appoint.
2. He is a bona fide racist
I know calling people racist is more offensive now than being racist, but please hear me out. He was rejected in 1986 as a judicial appointment because of his many racist actions and abuses of power as a attorney in the southern district of Alabama. If you don't believe me, the hearing transcript can be found here. Some highlights:
Mr. Sessions as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, comes to this committee with a record which, regrettably, includes presiding over the now infamous Perry County voting fraud allegations. In the Perry County case, the Government indicted three well-known and highly respected black civil rights activists on charges of voter fraud in assisting elderly black voters to vote by absentee ballot. But for the efforts of the defendants 20 years ago, these black citizens would not have been allowed to vote. All three of the defendants were acquitted of all indictments ... Mr. Sessions' role in that case alone should bar him from serving on the Federal bench.Mr. Herbert has stated to the committee investigators that Mr. Sessions on more than one occasion has characterized the NAACP and ACLU as un-American, Communist inspired organziations ... that these organizations did more harm than good when they were trying to force civil rights down the throats of people who were trying to put problems behind them. Mr. Herbert has also stated that Mr. Sessions suggested that a prominent white civil rights lawyer who litigated voting rights cases was a disgrace to his race for doing it.Now, here is another:
"I thought those guys," referring to the Klan,"were OK until I learned they smoked pot."
[Laughter.]
Mr. SESSIONS: That was a silly comment, I guess you might say, that I made.
Another is, speaking to a black attorney: "You ought to be careful what you say to white people.
[Another]: "You know the NAACP hates white people; they are out to get them. That is why they bring these lawsuits, they are a commie group and pinko organization as well."
Mr. SESSIONS: ... I will admit am pretty - in my office, talking to people I am associated with- I am loose with my tongue on occasion and I may have have said something similar to that or could be interpreted to that. The CHAIRMAN: Mr. Sessions, it has also been alleged that you have referred to the Voting Rights Act as an intrusive piece of legislation ...
Mr. SESSIONS: Well, I do believe that the Voting Rights Act is an intrusive piece of legislation ...
He voted against a Senate amendment to a House bill that prohibited cruel, inhumane, or degrading treatment or punishment of individuals in the custody or under the physical control of the United States Government. He opposes "any reform" of civil forfeiture legislation.
Sessions worked to deny funding to student Gay-Straight Alliances at Auburn University and The University of South Alabama, stating "an organization that professes to be comprised of homosexuals and/or lesbians may not receive state funding or use state-supported facilities to foster or promote those illegal, sexually deviate activities defined in the sodomy and sexual misconduct laws." He voted against the Matthew Shepard Act, which added acts of bias-motivated violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity to federal hate-crimes law, Sessions voted in favor of advancing the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2004 and 2006. Sessions voted against the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010.
Sessions has opposed immigration. Not illegal immigration, immigration.
Legal immigration is the primary source of low-wage immigration into the United States, ... What we need now is immigration moderation: slowing the pace of new arrivals so that wages can rise, welfare rolls can shrink and the forces of assimilation can knit us all more closely together."
And even if you support him because he shares your views, you should still be against this appointment simply on the basis of corruption. There are plenty of Pences and Sessions to chose from in the Republican, it is totally unnecessary to support Trump's appointment of his biggest yes-men on the basis of their support to him rather than their merit for the job.
