  • It wasn't the Russians!

Seriously, we are putting these people in charge of our country! This is crap your 90 year-old, computer illiterate grandma responds to, when she only has the internet because it came with the assisted living, and she just created a Facebook account last week!

Next, we are going to find out that Podesta sent his banking information to an exiled, African price to save his family's wealth!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I have no opinion with regard to who is responsible for the hack, but just because the attempted login was (or appears to be) from the Ukraine doesn't mean the Russians weren't behind it. It's not as if they're going to leave an e-trail right to the Kremlin.

Plus, we all know there aren't any Russians in Ukraine.

You need to read beyond this link. Podesta was the victim of a phishing expedition. Apparently, many Dems shared each other's passwords. Once Podesta's email was opened, the whole thing came crumbling down. The Russians certainly have every email, but the hack was gained by a simple phishing attempt that only the most naive should succumb.

That's right. They probably just outsourced their hacking to the Ukrainians, who would never allow a Russian citizen or operative inside their border, nor utilize an IP address that may or may not reside within or originate from their country.

          Obfuscation!

Are you suggesting inference, ie. read between the lines, or is there actual info out there indicating a successful phishing scam?

Yes. Its out there. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of some Twitter feeds with "Clinton emails" regarding pay for play. A little more interesting then Podesta merely being incompetent.

If the twitter link you posted in the NeverHillary topic is the one you're referring to, holy cow! How stupid can they be?

One of my links is now dead. They really discussed pay for play! And the whole hack was initiated by a common phishing expedition! And we are a few days from putting these people in charge!

On another note, while the hack originated not from Moscow, our current president has threatened Russia with cyber counterattacks.....

                    No wonder Putin supports Trump.

I still don't understand what you believe happened. Do you think Russia completed the "simple phishing attempt" or was it someone else?

No. Russia got their hands on the stuff, but it originated as a simple phihing expedition by some Ukranians crooks that wanted to exploit dumb people's bank accounts. The narrative has been that the hack was executed by the Russian government, that the Russians went out of their way to compromise Hillary and the Dems. We were told that we cannot trust the emails because of Russia.

Russia didn't activly do anything. They got the whole enchilada dumped in their lap. They were the beneficiaries of typical Eastern European phishing. I would hope that if any US intelligence agency got their hands on this type of stuff, that the US would use it to their, advantage. I'm not happy that Russia ended up with this stuff. I'm not a political opportunist. I'm not happy that that got classified info. I'm not happy that they essentially got every electronic communication from our Secretary of State. I'm pissed. But with this revelation, I can't blame Russia, I have to blame Podesta, his incompetence, and the incompetence of the DNC security and IT team.

Podesta, and the DNC it security team showed utter incompetence. My eight year-old knows better. We struggle with my mother in law, but we have her trained to call us first whenever anything like this pops up on her screen. We are really considering thesepeople to hold office.

One of the main reasons given by Jim Comey in not recommending charges against Clinton in July is that she was incompetent and didn't know what she was doing.

She probably is incompetent but I also think she knew what she was doing.

Where is the evidence that it was anyone other than Russia? The fact that the IP address was from Ukraine is completely meaningless. I am far from being a technological mastermind, and I know how to connect to a VPN that would ping a site with a Ukrainian IP.

The title of this thread is that it wasn't the Russians, but I didn't see anything in the article that suggested it wasn't the Russians.

And I'm not arguing that the staffers were intelligent. If accurate, it's pretty clear that whoever got the information (whether it be Russia or someone else) did not have to work hard for it. I'm just trying to figure out where your evidence is that it's Ukranian crooks.

Podesta leaked his own emails through his mail-order Ukrainian mistress because he got sick of Horn Dog Bill following his daughters around with a pitched tent! By getting it in the hands of the Russians through the back door he could burn the entire Clinton operation without getting put on the hit list. The perfect "out". I say Podesta did it.
