  • The Debate to End All Debates

Yes, that thread title is hyperbole. It seemed like the right thing to do.

How I envision tonight's debate unfolding:

Lester Holt: ...and now, for his opening remarks, Donald Trump, you have 90 seconds.

Trump: Good evening all. Hi Hillary, good to see you. Can you believe we did it?!?! Seriously, when Bill suggested this whole thing 2 years ago, I thought it would be fun to play along, but good God, it actually worked! We are going to make some sweet money together, you and I, over the next 4 years.

    *Trump turns, scans the audience*

Trump: Oh yeah, hey everybody else. You just got screwed. I win, again.

    *Sinister laugh*

Clinton: Donald *cough* *cough* *cough*... what *cough* what are you talking about?

    *Clinton faints*
    *Quick commercial break*
*Returns to panicked studio commentators with no clue what to do or say*

    ...

*30 minutes later, Trump is interviewed*

Interviewer: Mr Trump, that was, um, interesting to say the least. Can you expand on what you were saying?

Trump: Well, I think I was clear. I'm a deal maker. The best deal maker really. The best. You see, Hillary wanted to keep it a secret a little longer, but I just decided, whatever, let's have a little fun.

*BLM protestor dives into the screenshot, tackling Trump*
*Sean Hannity pulls out a pistol and starts firing*
*Chuck Norris steps in, stops everyone, declares himself President for life*

    *Happy Ever After*

I think you just described the best-case scenario.

    We're doomed.

Is tonight's debate (or the debate post-mortem, I'm not sure which will be worse) being sponsored by Phillip Morris?

Trump won the first 20 minutes pretty handily. Hillary won the second 20 minutes pretty handily. The third 20 minute segment has been mostly a pretty boring draw.

Trump unfocused ever since the topic strayed away from trade and seems poorly prepared.

He has a much higher ceiling in these debates than Hillary but she is performing much closer to hers. Guessing he is going to prep like a madman in advance of the next round - will be interesting to see how much he improves. I am guessing it will be a pretty big difference.

Its a win for Hillary - she didn't cough once. Trump sniffle was kind of annoying.

I agree but the first part was on the economy which is probably most important to many.

It was like watching an AAR at the NTC on your meeting engagement and realizing if you had pivoted right you would have nailed them in their flank and routed the OPFOR. So many lost opportunities for Trump to press the attack. His momentum will be stopped and Hillary will get a bump out of this.

I didnt watch. Dinner and drinks with two other couples was more compelling.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
