It's entirely possible that the same speech writer was employed by both parties. And if not, then Melania's speech writer needs to be replaced. And that's really all there is to it.

I agree that her speech writer needs to be replaced. I just find it incredibly, incredibly strange.

I think what's likely is that the speech writer listened to all of the potential First Lady speeches at recent conventions and took elements from a lot of them. Then the wording of the 08 speech stuck with the writer and it made it into the speech, but it's just so strange to be aware of the 08 speech (which, even if my theory is incorrect, the speech writer was certainly familiar with) and to not compare transcripts before finalizing the product. Which is why I said above that I think the response from the Trump campaign is weird.

It really is an interesting election cycle, isn't it? The roaming roadshow of gaffe contrasted against a train of corruption that would make the dictator of an African third world country blush with pride.

The response is what's weird.

This whole election is insanely weird. Who would have thought the Republican would go with Trump out of all the people they could have chosen from and the democrats would go with a un-convicted felon. Nixon would like his reputation back.

Christie delivered the red meat to unify the party, then Jr. hit it out of the park. Say what you want, but Trump seems to have raised some solid kids.

And I believe the best is yet to come, but Ivanka will have to be amazing to top Jr.

Yawn. I am pretty bored with the convention already. I doubt if I will be able to watch much if any of the next two days.

Mrs. Trump's speech has been the highlight so far. My hope for another candidate disappeared quickly the first day under a Trump-like authoritarian squashing of the delegates. My fear is that he will try and rule the country the same way he railroaded the rules through the convention.
