Looks likie the coup (if there really was one) has failed. It is not clear how big it really was and who was involved. There was a report from a source that had sources in the Turkey Military that Generals thought this was a joke (because they had no knowledge of it or their support).

When I was browsing the various active periscopes in Instanbul and Ankara - there seemed to be a 50/50 split in comments in support for/against the turkish government. The anti-government comments were for disgusted that if the military was going to do this they should have made sure they succeeded - because they realize that the crackdown on secular influences would be brutal.

There is also a report that the Turkish have cut the power to the U.S. Military base in Turkey.

Already 3,000+ arrests made in connection with the coup and 265 judges have been suspended. Wasting no time with the expected purge.

And this is taking place in what is by far the most historically stable and sane of the Islamasist nations. Smart people will take note; the irrational PC crowd will not, unfortunately.

Friday night’s failed coup was Turkey’s last hope to stop the Islamization of its government and the degradation of its society.

The false flag notion is interesting. Either these plotting officers were legit inept imbeciles or the Reichstag fire comparisons are pretty apt.

The immediate cleansing of the uninvolved judiciary supports the latter.

A spontaneous coup is hard to believe.

The number of judges and prosecutors arrested is up to 2,745 according to Skynews. Almost more than arrest in the army (2,839).

In the end it looks like it was an actual coup attempt that failed spectacularly.

From a intelligence analyst from nightwatch has provided the following detail:

Late information indicates that a coup team attempted to capture Erdogan on the night of the 15th, but he narrowly escaped. Another report is that his executive jet and its F-16 escorts were intercepted by pro-coup pilots, also flying F-16s, who did not shoot them down. A successful decapitation operation might have altered the outcome of the coup attempt.

Erdogan has basically launched a counter-coup to purge anybody who might oppose him (especially the educated in his country). 15,000 public school teachers have been fired, 21,000 private school teacher have lost their license, 492 state religious personnel fired, and also 257 from prime minister office. Erdogan also has said anybody who urges restraint are supporters of the coup (expect US/EU/NATO relations to sour quickly).

I agree, this is not good and the secular Turkey of "Young Turks" fame is a vestige of the past. The nation is well on its way to becoming an islamic state.
