An “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:
"While we recognize that the subject did not actually steal any horses, he is obviously guilty of trying to resist being hanged for it."

Though yes, in general, it gets nowhere near enough attention. It didn't happen nearly as fast as you think it did, but considering all of the hysterics I've seen regarding ISIS for years, the American public and media are not doing nearly enough to credit our military and intelligence services, and particularly our allies, for this huge victory. Incredible numbers of people have been working towards this for years.
Unfortunately, Putin probably deserves more credit here than POTUS. The Russian backed Syrian regime front probably prevented retreat that would have extended things indefinitely.Last edited by Rlh04d; December 13, 2017, 09:20 AM.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

I disagree that it wouldn't have happened -- the changes that needed to be made were made under the previous administration. At a certain point, the only way to not be successful given the enclosing net on the core ISIS-held ERV area would be for a lack of will to finish the job.
I do agree that changing the rules of engagement significantly sped up the process. But, like you said, that was more about the previous administration slowing the progress than the current administration speeding it up. Not a decision or a strategy so much as getting out of the way.
We built (and lucked into, to some degree, with Russia, though they also significantly impeded our progress in areas) a noose around their throats. The particular administration was only pertinent to how quickly it tightened, not that it tightened. The strategy won, but the implementation sped up. Also, much of ISIS quit far faster than we could have hoped for.
I drove a UHaul from Wichita when I moved over to Maryland -- it was annoying, especially because it had a speed governor. I had a map and knew where I was going, just didn't get to go there nearly as fast as I wanted to. The current administration didn't give us the map, they just took the speed governor off.
Also: they're not gone by a long shot yet.Last edited by Rlh04d; December 13, 2017, 06:09 PM.

I would change your analogy slightly. The previous administration gave us a map and a UHaul with a speed governor. The problem is the map forced you to drive through Denver to get to Maryland. The current administration didn't give us a map, but allowed the driver (field generals) to determine the best route and took the governor off. Just my POV.

Perhaps. That was not my experience, however.
I'm sure some people involved might disagree -- I noticed no significant change in direction.
*Edit: Rather, no recent significant change in direction. Obviously we were trying to drive to Maryland via China for a while, but we were going in the right direction well before the election.Last edited by Rlh04d; December 17, 2017, 11:31 AM.

The porn star payoff story is predictably interesting. Cohen is a renowned imbecile, as you can see in any televised interview he's conducted, and he went to the shittiest law school in the U.S. so it really is no surprise he screwed the pooch when covering his tracks. I've never understood why Trump has any use for him given the general quality of the other counsel he historically uses.
Unfortunately it looks like the alleged sexual encounter would have occurred during Melania's pregnancy (Barron) following their marriage in 2005. I don't expect it will sway any for or against given how firmly entrenched the sides have become, but I do feel bad for his kid with dad's infidelities during mom's pregnancy being available for all to see.

Every other politician in modern history would have been ruined for this scandal. Somehow, this is one of like three scandals THIS WEEK that would have ruined every other politician in history.
