  • And I see whites getting arrested on tv, too!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

    • That is the first time in my life that I ever had the race card played against me. I'm honored. Really I am. I guess all that time volunteering to help Sudanese immigrants acclimate, and the time I spent helping the Africans establish their own Mass at my church account for nothing. But thanks!

Yup. I was there. I helped put this whole thing together, but I'm a racist.

I don't know what is more strange: (1) the fact that you believe JH4P was calling you a racist (he wasn't. he was saying your logic was similar to that which justifies racism) or (2) that you responded to that "accusation" with evidence that you couldn't be a racist because you helped Sudanese people. I've met many people who harbor ill will toward black people in the United States but have no issue with people who were born in Africa. Again, I feel the need to put in a warning, I'm not calling you racist. I'm just saying, your response doesn't really "prove" you're not. Not that you need to prove it. No one is calling you a racist.

This has become a really strange thread.

        • MVJ, I didn't call you a racist, and I don't think you are one. I think you fail to realize that your logic in dealing with left vs right in politics would equate to racism if you actually carried it out in that realm.

I actually think you are hypocritical, irrational, and illogical. Those things are actually the reason why you are able to simultaneously spout this garbage about "the left" why simultaneously not be a racist.

If you were consistent, you would be a racist too. Rather than become one, I'd rather you drop the unnecessary grouping of everyone on "the left" and become consistent by treating them the way you treat other races.

You have no choice about race. You are born into a race. You have every bit of a choice with whom to associate. You have every bit of a choice to support or not support an organization. You have every bit of a choice to continue what has been proven to be a load of lies and mischaracterizations, or not say anything and wait for factual reports of misdeeds. If someone, associated with an ideology, chooses to follow that ideology down the same rabbit hole as the zealots within that ideology, don't be upset when their thoughts are dismissed.

There is nothing hypocritical or inconsistent about differentiating race from ideology, one is a choice, one isn't.

                Bullshit.

It was the race card. It was plain as day.

                  • I will explain myself for your perspective and go way back. I never liked Trump. Never. I have many reasons for not liking him, but here are a few:

The guy has a history of quitting. He quit on the USFL, he's quit on lots of things. He may tire of, and quit on being president.

I don't trust him. Anyone read The Art of the Deal? I read it back in the 80's. While the world was swooning over Trump and the book, I found him to be dishonest.

I think he could become corrupt. He has the potential to get deals get steered his way like foriegn money was steered to the Clinton Foundation. I don't like it.

                    No foriegn policy experience.

                    Meglomaniac. Beyond narcissistic.

Dishonest? Maybe, maybe not, narcissists often find the truth as it suits them.

Grating personality. I just don't like the guy.

Disconnected. Trump is disconnected from me.

There are lots and lots more reasons I don't like Trump. There are lots and lots more reasons I didn't vote for him. I didn't vote for Hillary, either. So, unlike JH4P and JD, I lost a long, long time before the election. I was disenfranchised over a year ago. I rolled into the November election already accepting the outcome, whatever it may be. I never expected a shitstorm.

Then agai, I, like most of America, assumed it would be Clinton, that's what the media told us. On election night, it became very apparent, very early, that the media and the pollsters ****ed up. Me, already accepting either outcome, found the one sided, knee jerk reaction by the media hilarious! It got better as the night wore on. Rachel Maddow had me falling out of my chair I was laughing so hard! The media refused to call it, hoping and praying for a miracle. It was so obvious the tank job by almost everyone in the media. There was no covering it up.

The media's job in the election and susequent days following has been nothing but a hatchet job on Trump. The media front paged every single accusation of abuse by Trump supporters on minorities and muslims, only to bury the retractions and corrections. Every single one. Meanwhile, they continue to report unsubstantiated allegations, and they continue to promote civil unrest at the innaugeration as merely civil discourse.

All of this leads me to distrust everything. I really don't like Donald Trump. You can ask my wife, kids and neighbors. But I came to peace with whatever the outcome long ago and I don't want any shitstorms. When the demonstrating started, when the false claims started, when all of the bullshit started, I grew sick of it, fast. And don't expect me to symathize with anyone on the side that lost, I lost long before they. And for God's sake, don't think for one second that I'm considering any unsubstantiated information, hypotheticals based on unsubstantiated claims when all of the information to date has been false.

And ergo, I end up defending a guy I don't even like. What the partisan Democrats don't understand is that I'm not unique. There are plenty of people in my shoes that don't like Trump but the Democrats are pushing away. But the Democrats are so in rage they can't even seeit.

                    • For me, 'laughter' is the best medicine... :)

                      The Night Before Inauguration

Twas the night before Inauguration, and up in the tower,
The Donald reflected on his newfound power.
The conservative masses had come out in force,
And delivered a victory that would chart a new course.

The snowflakes were shell-shocked with tears in their eyes,
The media lied to them . . . What a surprise.
They had been promised a Hillary win,
But the criminal Clinton took one on the chin.

And though from all corners celebrities flew,
They made no impression, for they hadn’t a clue.
They talked about climate, racism, and such,
And they made up good stories . . . But didn’t know much.

The fake news and ignorance came at a cost,
And they can’t understand all the reasons they lost.
They blame it on Comey and Bernie and Vlad,
But fail to acknowledge the one that was bad.

Yes, Hillary Clinton, in many ways flawed,
Was her own biggest hurdle toward getting the nod.
The campaign exposed her corruptness and greed,
And her speeches were punch-less as ten dollar weed.

So out in the streets there arose such a clatter,
It was Soros-paid protestors and Black Lives Matter.
With cities to pillage and windows to smash,
They knew not the issues, but needed the cash.

Eight years of Obama had given them cause,
To expect a replacement of their Santa Claus.
But soon the protestors will feel the pain,
When the wheels fall off of the old gravy train.

And now all the snowflakes are riddled with fear,
Upset and offended by things that they’ll hear.
The cocoa and crayons will help for a while,
But fact-based opinions will soon cramp their style.

I originally supported, and voted, for Cruz,
In the end, I would vote for whoever they choose.
He wasn’t my first choice, but soon I would cede,
The one they call Trump is the one that we need.

I saw him on TV in front of a crowd,
He spoke about veterans, it made me feel proud.
He spoke about energy, safety, and jobs,
Taking this country back from the Washington snobs.

He was dressed in Armani, all tailored and neat,
And the Brunos he wore made the outfit complete.
For a man of his vintage, he seemed rather fit,
And he looked presidential, I have to admit.

His eyes glowed like embers, his smile was the best,
And his hair was the color of my old hunting vest.
His love for this country was on full display,
And his actions spoke louder than his words could say.

He thanked all his voters, and before he was gone,
Saved thousands of jobs while Obama looked on.
The fate of this country left nothing to chance,
So, he filled out his cabinet weeks in advance.

The men he had chosen were of the same mind,
Let’s set the bar high, and not lead from behind.
He picked up his phone as he rose from his seat,
                      With a flick of his finger, he sent out this tweet;

“Now Mattis!, now Kelly!’ now Sessions! And Pruitt!
On Perry! On Flynn, You’re the ones who can do it.
Start lifting restrictions and building the wall,
                      Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”;

The roar of his audience rose from the stands,
He kissed all their babies and shook all their hands.
He answered their questions and calmed all their fears,
They knew it would be a fantastic four years.
Then he jumped in his limo, and off to his jet,

A fellow that Liberals won’t soon forget.
                      He sent one more tweet as the evening expired;
                      “Happy Inauguration to all,
                      AND OBAMA – YOU’RE FIRED!”
