  • I think Marco would be an effective Commander in Chief, and Ben Carson as VP would be fine, but I see Rubio picking a Carly Fiorina or someone with more Executive experience as VP.

Carson is a no brainer for HHS or Surgeon General.

Not sure Florina would add to the ticket near as much as Carson would. If having a woman is that important, maybe Condolezza Rice (if she'd do it)?

I agree, Rice is light years ahead of Fiorina in every category except piledriving a huge company into the ground.

        • Can anyone tell me what was happening with Tech companies when HP's stock took a hit with Fiorina at the helm?

Conde Rice is light years ahead of most everyone that's recently run for the Presidency, most clearly the current occupier of the White House. She's absolutely brilliant.

I mean, I get that this is a bait question but compared to other tech bellweathers HP still **** the bed in those years. Share price drop far outpaced main competitors IBM and Dell and net income gains lagged way behind every non-dot-com index over that same period. They also took on roughly 50% more debt in a rising rate environment.

The market recovery after 00-02 was pretty V shaped but HP was missing the right half of that letter.

              • Compaq. Ugh.

I had no idea who Fiorina was at the time, but my boss and I both shook our heads in disbelief when the HP/Compaq merger was announced. What was she thinking?

                  • Similarly interesting but with a comparison against a broader Tech Index over the same period:

                    • I think the industry was in too much turmoil to draw a conclusion based on stock value. But there were some eye raising long term decisions being made during her tenure that were either applauded or questioned. During that time frame I was definitely in the "hater" camp of the direction HP was going. I was (and still am) a big fan of HP's business products, as well as business and consumer printers. I thought purchasing Compaq was a terrible move, when it happened though. I stopped following HP shortly after that move though -- so I am not even sure how that turned out for them. I could have been completely wrong. I should look into the long term consequences of that move.

I could see her as a cabinet member. She might still have a little too much of a connection to the Bush's to be the VP in a general election.

                              • Its official. I have no idea what to think of Ben Carson.

Can't stand any of the Dems.
Can't stand Huckabee, Jeb, Santorum, Trump.
Varying levels of positive feelings for most of the rest of the Republican candidates, but Carson takes "varying" to a whole new level. I literally can't decide if he is in my top 3 or outside my top 10.
