This is about Carson blatantly lying. This is about him doing X (which is very provable as fact) and then calling the very idea of him doing X "total propaganda". It makes no sense and is very disappointing.

I do not ignore Hillary or Biden's corruption. I despise them. I had hoped Carson was a breath of fresh air in a world of rotten smells. I'm disappointed that though smelling better than Hillary or Biden, he is still starting to stink.

Carson's relationship with that company is virtually a non issue. He should have honestly said as much and this whole thing would have already blown past. When the candidate known as one of the most honest and humble presidential candidates in years starts blatantly lying, it really feels like the nail in the coffin for any trust one might have left in politicians.
I can see where a person could do promos, and at the same time, not consider themself being connected to the company. He wasn't on the board, he wasn't involved with any day to day activities and he didn't work in a lab or a production facility. He was merely compensated for speeches.

I worked in advertising. We took companies and their products at face value. We promoted them. At the end of the day, if the company was unethical, broke the law or didn't provide goods or services as promised, we weren't accountable and we weren't in any way associated or affiliated. We just did some work for them. Same with Ben Carson. He never said he didn't give speeches, he said he did, he just doesn't believe he is now, or ever has been, a part of the organization. He's not lying, and it's a pretty high and unfair standard that only he is being held to.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

    • None of this really matters. The Republicans and their coalition is so divided, that unless Hillary Clinton is arrested, she will be our next President.

That, or unless Bernie really picks up steam. Bernie, whom I have nothing bad to say about, is the wild card.

I'm not a Bernie supporter, but Bernie is pretty straightforward with what he believes. I disagree with just about every idea Bernie espouses, but I think he's pretty honest.

        • I'm sure Carson will defend himself in the way MVJ decribed. What else could he do? His supporters will buy into it. Many others not so much. Canidates are under pressure during a debate to say impressive stuff. They must think it doesn't matter much if its not totally true. See the fact check thread.

            • Rubio just got the support of one of the Republicans' biggest money backers. I'm liking my call on it being Rubio who wins out. Remember where you heard it first.

Of course he got their support. He is an establishment pet and gets the backing for the same reason Kasich was allowed on the debate stage a few nights ago.

                    This is an honest question.

You're stating that Ben Carson probably can't gain much if any more traction because of this "problem" or not being truthful.

You don't think many (or enough) voters can overlook this incident.

I'm curious if you're taking this stance based on how you see the average voter, and if you also take the same stance, that you can't overlook this incident.

And then, I would ask do you take the same stance on Hilary, who has been caught in many, many more lies and has dozens more "connections" with problems. Do you also see (and will propose) that Hilary can gain no more traction because of these issues and are you willing to discount her because of that?

                    • It's how I see the Republican primaries. It doesn't kill him for me. My biggest concern with him is how he apparently doesn't understand science. I believe that's very important in this age. But since he supports renewable energy, he gets half a pass . I really liked the past Clinton administration's support of scientific research. Carson needs to learn how to phrase his thoughts in a better way to be successful. On the Republican side I'm liking Graham, Pataki and Kasich the most. Carson and Trump might be next but currently would have a hard time pulling the trigger for either.

Regarding Hilary Clinton I'm not a fan but it appears most Democrats and money have already decided in her favor about her past.

He doesn't understand science? He's a brain surgeon, you need to be very, very strong in science just to get into the most mediocre medical school, much less become one of the country's foremost brain surgeons, yet you say he doesn't understand science.

Does Donald Trump understand science better than Carson? Hillary? Which other candidate has a better understanding of science, and why?

                        • They say if you send an asshole to medical school, what you get is an asshole doctor. It is kind of amazing isn't it that so many people have drawn the same conclusion
