Scott Brown has a chance to make some interesting history next week. Only two other senators have each been elected by at least two different states: Waitman Willey (VA and WV) and James Shields (IL, MN and MO).

Winning in states that have gone for the other side in the last 3 (NH) and 7 (MA) presidential elections would make the feat that much more impressive. Whether you like his views or not, you have to respect that level of campaigning acumen.

Let's be intellectually honest here. There was a call to action to improve the conditions of the schools themselves. Brownback agreed and put huge amounts of money into it. The truth is that he put a ton of money into the schools, but that money did not go to students or teachers. The other part of that is that the federal government cut spending that went to students. The Kansas gov did not pick up the bill. That's why there is less money, it's just not less Kansas money.

Maybe Barbara Shelly should share all her wisdom with the Topeka Capital Journal. They've obviously drank the Brownback Kool-Aid because how else can you explain an endorsement of a Conservative Governor from such a dependable Liberal paper?

After a bunch of charts and graphs showing INCREASES every year of the Brownback administration this is his beef?

Why should Education funding follow personal income? What relation is there between what we should spend on State Education and what people make other than Marxist wealth-redistribution efforts?

wufan, I don't think pension payments should be used to calculate per-student funding. Pension payments are legal obligations that require funding and do nothing to benefit students. I think your argument relative to capital spending holds a LOT more water. KC Shocker's reference clearly states that the monies were used to fund pensions and capital projects.

I'm reminded of the Frisco school district (near Dallas) that spent $70 million on a football stadium that now sits useless. I like football, but I have to question why a high school with an enrollment similar to the Maize schools needs a $70 million dollar football stadium.

I was actual calling you out. I wasn't talking about pensions, I was talking about school funding, which was not cut. That said, there is an argument to be made that student funding was not increased...it wasn't.
