If Hillary runs, I will vote for anybody else.

While I certainly understand not liking him for that reason, I don't think that's the wrong move for a Republican candidate to actually have a shot at winning in a general election. I'm not sure any Republican can win a general election right now without taking on policies that are going to infuriate most conservatives.

Interesting thread, although it doesn't seem many of you have gotten the message from 2012 - America isn't far right.

If Clinton runs, it won't matter. The GOP won't win the White House.

Because running liberal/moderate candidates has worked out so well for the Republican party. Do you really believe America is far left because Obama won?

I don't think most elected Republicans learned the lesson of 2010.

Keep an eye on interest rates and the jobs situation over the next couple of years. A lot can happen between now and the next election that is of far more consequence than social policies.

I'm not so sure that social issues do not trump everything.

No conservative has a chance at the White House. The nation has went beyond the tipping point and the majority has lost all discernment.

The left has convinced their side that economic issues should take a back seat to the social issues because those social programs will be their safety net. Why care how much you'll pay in taxes if you know the government will take care of you anyway?

Figure out a way to get rid of or reel back the social safety nets and I think you'll see a significant, albeit gradual, shift to the right.

That only happens if/when people start believing in less gov't spending and more personal responsibility.

I would normally agree with this, but the House just decoupled Food Stamps from the Farm Bill. The Martin/Zimmerman case dominated the news cycle, but I am optimistic to see what comes from this.
