Also really wish Bobby Jindal hadn't flubbed his State of the Union response so horribly a few years ago. I think he has a lot of pretty excellent ideas for minimizing government and he worked absolute miracles fixing Louisiana's budget woes.
Not buying Jindal and minimizing government. At all.

There will be a woman nominated with good chances of winning.

Ambassador Christopher Stevens could not be reached for comment. But what difference does it make?

Think it will boil down to Paul and Rubio and whomever indicates that Mr. Sowell will play an important part in their administration will get my multiple votes.

Santorum, (take it to the bank) vs. President Hillary, with her highness in a landside.

An “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:

"While we recognize that the subject did not actually steal any horses, he is obviously guilty of trying to resist being hanged for it."

What a disaster that would be.

I'd be very happy to see Rice running.

Rand Paul is going to do MUCH better than his father did -- or at least should.

Paul Ryan is going to do very well if he can come across less robotic.

Don't discount Rick Perry. If he is serious from the outset and doesn't jump in last minute like last time, he could be a contender. When he's organized he's pretty effective. Obviously anybody jumping in last minute won't be organized or prepared enough to be taken seriously, so it'll be interesting to see where he goes early on.
Rick Perry's problems didn't have anything to do with jumping in at the last minute. It was things like this:

“I will tell you, it’s three agencies of government, when I get there, that are gone,” he said. “Commerce, education, and the, um, what’s the third one there …”

"When you see his appointment of two, from my perspective, inarguably activist judges, whether it was…" the Texas governor said before trailing off. He paused for six seconds. "Not Montemayor," said Perry.

He then went on to rip the "eight unelected and frankly unaccountable judges" who should not be making legislative decisions telling Americans how to live.

A South Carolina woman at a Perry campaign event asked him to comment on the two wars in which the United States was involved. "She asked about Iran, Afghanistan," Perry said.

During a campaign stop at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, Perry got both the voting age and the date of the 2012 presidential election wrong. "Those of you that will be 21 by November the 12th, I ask for your support and your vote," he said to the students.

When someone asked him about the issue of states' rights, Perry said that one of the "reasons we fought the revolution in the 16th century was to get away from that kind of onerous crown."

"Washington has abused the Constitution. You go back to the, a decade ago, with Woodrow Wilson..."
And whatever in the hell was going on here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7M4gz97Y9W8#at=34

There were already concerns that Perry wasn't smart enough to be President before the flubs started; I don't think he has any shot at recovering from that last run.

No one thinks Chris Christie is going to be out there? He and Rubio are the two I hear the most about. I have a hard time buying Christie, though -- I can't see a guy from New Jersey representing the Republican party. He likely won't be able to win any north-eastern states, so I'd assume the nominee comes from the south.

I would be shocked if the nominee won't be Rubio in an attempt to make headway with Latin-American voters and take Florida. At worst, he'll be the VP candidate. At least, at some point I'm assuming the Republican party will start realizing that they need to find people from swing states to run in one of the top two spots.

Christie and Rubio have both lost support among the conservative base recently and that's why you're not seeing them mentioned here. It seems that a number of posters on here, Republican, Independent, Libertarian or what have you, seem to be conservative minded and that's what you've seen talked about.

I missed that it was who do you want to see rather than who do you expect to see.

What's happened with Rubio to cause him to lose support? I'm pretty well in the "I hate all politicians regardless of party" camp, so I don't keep up with internal party-politics as well.

Rubio recently backed the Amnesty bill that the Senate and Obama are trying to get through Congress. Most conservatives want border control/security enhanced before we start talking about granting citizenship to those who came here illegally.

Odds are, the Republicans will send another more liberal candidate to run in the national election and lose again. Most of the previous names mentioned are young conservative types that are building a name for themselves.

That's who I voted for last time. I'll vote for anyone who wants to actually attempt to get government under control as opposed to giving it more and more power.
