    I find it scary that the people of a state can create a law, prop 8, and the governor can just elect not to defend it in court. It effectively allows the governor to torpedo any laws he does not like.

    On another point - I think this decision will water down the purpose of marriage. People will marry others just to get on their insurance for example. In an extreme case a father may marry his son (incest laws wont apply since no children can come of it) just to avoid inheritance taxes. This decision really made a fundamental change in our society and in my opinion - not a good one.

      Incest doesn't have anything to do with childbirth, does it?
