Washington doesn't have a spending problem...

The thing about conservatives, and all of Congress for that matter, is that they're all about spending cuts. But when Washington sends money to their districts, they're the first in line to cut the ribbon, instead of saying, "No thank you."

The thing to remember about this is that the money has already been budgeted and if it's not appropriated by Congress to their districts it will go to the Executive branch for the President to spend as he wishes. Would you rather the taxpayers get a local benefit or for the President to spend it on his pets? Would a congressman, conservative or otherwise, be serving his district if he turned down money that is going to get spent one way or the other?

The "pork" problem needs to be addressed at the budget level, not the appropriations level.
