What is concerning are the people who had their homeowners insurance cancelled recently. Those folks are pretty much screwed. It will be very interesting to see who comes into ownership of the properties when the owners are not able to rebuild their homes over the next few years. When I heard of the traffic jams, I feared we were gonna have another mass casualty incident like there was in Hawaii, but that doesn't appear to have happened. Either way, very tragic. But perhaps the election of people who are tasked with managing basic civic resources will again be decided by who is suited to manage it and less on politics. But I doubt it. Maybe in the short term, but it will be back to politics as usual after this is forgotten.

This happened because the state of California voted to put freakin' price controls on insurance. And when the insurance companies calculated the risk vs their ability to collect it was a no-go, so they pulled the insurance. This is 100% totally on the price control failures of the socialist idiots running the state.

And I wonder who is going to pay for it? Guarantee Biden writes a huge fat check on his way out ...

I don't know how a jacked up premium could overcome the natural disaster that state is facing. They've got to figure out an innovative way to control the fires. Those properties are almost uninsurable at this point.

They don't need an innovative way to control fires. They need the well established way that they have been told to control fires for many decades. And those well known techniques have been turned down over and over due to pressure from environmentalist idiots.

That's funny. He deserves to get ambushed. Makes no difference if she's shooting wildly in all directions either. When you're the governor, you get the heat when things don't go well.

I would say these fires qualify as a national disaster a la Katrina, etc. Fortunately/unfortunately, the gubament is the "lender of last resort".

If an F5 tornado leveled Wichita, we'd have our hands out too.
