I was in NOLA enjoying the New Year's festivities when the entitled man-child decided to go bowling for people with his truck. I was asleep at the time (3am?), but when I awoke and read about it, the first thing I said was, "Let's get back down to the French Quarter and spend some money!". That bozo wasn't going to have an ounce of effect on me.
By the way, outside of the massive contingent of reporters attempting to spin this out of control for ratings, you wouldn't know anything was amiss. Same old magical NOLA. I was a block away from Bourbon street the evening following the attack, enjoying the music, food, and weather.
I also went up and thanked as many NOLA LEO's as I could after the attack. They seemed to really enjoy that.
The police coverage prior to the attack was incredibly thick. MUCH more than what I had seen in the past. I was impressed and felt as safe as anybody can feel. They did everything they could do. If somebody is hell bent on hurting others, it's extremely simple to pull off. Any driver at any time can drive into a gathering on some random parking lot and mow a couple dozen folks down with zero planning or effort. The wackos only have to get it right once.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
