I don't follow Congress very much, so I don't know the players that well. I know MAGA wanted Scott, but here's something interesting:

Scott's voting record is 84% in favor of Trump policies.
Thune's voting record is 91% in alignment.

I don't think Thune is awful. He's fine. McConnell, for all the **** he gets now, helped move through all of Trump's SC justices and knew how to maneuver items through the senate. It's just time for him to go.

I remember believing in all those same things too. Fortunately, I no longer do. Trump was/is a degree of threat to America that remains to be fully quantified. This is a product of his personal/moral/emotional malignancies.

But to be fair, he potentially offers a degree of promise. I originally voted for him as a chaos agent. I sought change. I thought his moral shortcomings were not so large as to conflict with his/my joint vision for America. I was proven VERY wrong on that during his term.

He's now in his final act; America is a country of second chances. We'll see if he can create a net good (accidentally or otherwise) for EVERYONE by the time he leaves office.

Definitely wishing him (US) the best.

Elon Musk has officially landed the role as co-leader of the new Department of Government Efficiency, and he's already crowdsourcing for suggestions. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday evening that Musk will head the department alongside the businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, with the goal of curbing government spending.

In a post on X, Musk promised that the DOGE — named after the cryptocurrency — will publish all of its activity online to ensure "maximum transparency" and will "have a leaderboard for most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars."

As of Wednesday morning, the post had garnered more than 26 million views, 18,000 comments, and 50,000 retweets. Business leaders were among those reacting to the news and, in some cases, offering suggestions.

Ryan Petersen, CEO of the supply-chain management company Flexport, responded on X asking where to submit programs to cut.

"The US Department of Agriculture runs a foreign language school. I took a Chinese class there. Why does the department of agriculture need to teach Chinese? We have community colleges for that right?" Petersen wrote. The USDA does not offer typical foreign language classes but provides access to language-learning tools through an internal platform.

Bill Ackman, a billionaire hedge fund manager and an outspoken Trump supporter, reposted Musk's announcement of a leaderboard on X, writing, "It's becoming exciting again to be an American." Shaun Maguire, another outspoken Trump supporter and a partner at the venture-capital firm Sequoia Capital, retweeted the president-elect's announcement that Musk would head DOGE and called it "one of the greatest things I've ever read."

The responses to Musk's announcement and general appointment as head of DOGE stretched across the partisan tech aisle. Aaron Levie, CEO of the cloud computing company Box, who endorsed Harris, responded to Trump's announcement of the agency on X.

"There's a significant opportunity to make the government more capable of delivering for Americans, and ironically it will actually cost less not more," he wrote.

I have to admit, this is one of the more exciting aspects for me about the Trump presidency. Government waste from both parties has been running rampant for decades and I'd love to see an honest effort to clean a lot of that up.

It will be interesting to see how this goes.

Anyone who shares Sub's POV (which I do) that the Federal Government needs to be smaller and more limited, has to agree that along with Ramaswamy/Musk DOGE, much of the entire make up of the Cabinet is to "shake up" the federal government Powers, and change policies of the military, Intelligence, Education, DOJ, Economy, Border, idea that Gender Protections should include Trans, etc.

I like the RFK appointment.

Europe allows much fewer chemicals in their foods, than the U.S. to preserve them in the grocery market. In Europe, the food companies have the burden of proof that the chemicals allowed in their foods do not make people sick, where in the U.S., anyone who protests that foods (chemicals in food) are unhealthy have to prove that they are. A medical doctor who was discussing this, said that in America, we know that there is a correlation that many food chemicals make people sick, and overweight, but direct proof is impossible.

Why are girls (today) in the 4th and 5th grades now (often) passing puberty, while girls in past generations, didn’t mature until several years later. Answer is Diet and Chemicals

Spend money on Organic food (avoiding pesticides) and meats that are grass fed, and have not been given hormones to fatten them up.

This isn’t good for our kids, not to say how they affect adults.
