Without government, who would threaten to punish you for repairing your own fence after a storm?
        HOA's

Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

Most HOA's (which can be maddening because of their rules) that I'm aware of, (in this part of America) have rules regarding metal fencing that keep water views opened up, etc. Not on storm, falling trees, and high wind induced fence repairs. Maybe others have heard differently.

If you aren't changing the look of your fence, deck, house, whatever, you don't have to ask your HOA if you can repair it. SB Shock was just making a joke.

Sure they want their fences in good state of repair in their neighborhood. But the would need to approve the design and coloring (if being painted or stained) before you ever kick of the work.

Actually, in some neighborhood HOA in town require any repairs/repainting/staining to be approved by DRC (design review committee) before they can be started.

I know somebody who got a letter from the HOA saying he needed to repaint an area on one side of the house because of fade/wear. So, he did repaint it with the same color as the house. But then got a letter saying the house has to be 1 color (other parts of house were the same, but lighter due to fading). So he had to go back and paint the whole house. What the letter should have demanded was "repaint your house".

Sounds like that HOA has THE DEEP STATE (controlling)complex.

'Politically motivated' FBI treated conservatives like domestic terrorists on Wray's watch: whistleblower

                          https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pol...-whistleblower

"What people are seeing is the natural outgrowth of letting FBI agents, or FBI senior management, forecast what they think the crime is going to be in the country, being incentivized to be correct, because they're going to be paid a monetary bonus at the end of it if they're right, and then they go out and find that crime," Seraphin told Fox News Digital.

"And so it looks very politicized," he added. "But I think that's actually just a mistake of the correlation. In reality, what's going on is the FBI is serving the interests of the senior management, which is that they want to get paid, and the easiest way to get paid is to go round up MAGA people, which they fall under this category of … anti-government, anti-authority, violent extremists."

Seraphin said a New Mexico field office prioritized "anti-abortion extremists" as the state’s third-highest national security threat. Separately over the summer, a Texas doctor was charged with four felonies for exposing alleged transgender surgeries on children at a hospital.

"Everybody assumes that it's about politics because the FBI has some really politically motivated leads," Seraphin said. "The current deputy director, Paul Abbate, is very politically motivated, and he's very hard leading to the left."

Seraphin blamed the FBI's seemingly political bias on an integrated program management, a McKinsey & Company-designed system rewarding executives with large bonuses for meeting self-set metrics, including domestic extremism and terrorism.

As is very often the case, follow the money.

Without government, who would try to cram in millions of dollars in frivolous spending into a bill and give themselves a 40% raise while American taxpayers continue to struggle with getting through the expenses of day to day life while being over taxed? I don't know if this will go through or not as I've seen a handful of politicians come out publicly and bash the wastefulness of this. I really wish voters would actually pay attention to things like this and hold the yahoo's that vote for it accountable.

We will see whether shutting the government down works this time. There seems to be more of a “public and political wind” behind it this time, because Musk, Ramaswamy, Pres. Elect Trump, and seemingly the public (although difficult to gauge public sentiment) has at least some support to a shut down. In the past the Republicans have always looked bad, and lost these government shutdowns (and Republican Senators, and Representatives from blue states/moderate districts usually aren’t strong on government shutdowns, nor was Mitch McConnell), and the Democrats are NEVER in favor of shutting down government.

Shumer, Senate Democrats, and Biden on his way out, want to spend money are every boondoggle they can, and it’s to his advantage to not not go through the appropriations process (true negotiations) like they are supposed to, and negotiate with the other side, so Shumer (Senate) waits until the last minute and springs it on the House. Johnson knows how the history of government shutdowns have always worked against them, but perhaps there is enough support behind him to win this time.
