  • Middle East War 2024?

Israel takes out a high-ranking Hezbollah commander in Beirut who was responsible for the missile strike on a kid's soccer match that killed 12 children. Then, less than 24 hours later, the Political leader Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas was killed in a possible airstrike in Tehran. Haniyeh was involved in the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks.

Iran's Supreme Leader has supposedly commanded his military to conduct a direct attack on Israel.
I would expect coordinated Hezbollah, Houthi, Hamas, and Iranian attacks in the coming days.

The directive was issued at an emergency meeting of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, the report added.

Iran is expected to directly attack Israel in response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on Wednesday morning, according to a New York Times report citing three sources.
The directive was issued at an emergency meeting of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, the report added.
Iran’s Supreme leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei had earlier in the day spoken of retribution in a post on X.

How long before Israel takes out the nuclear labs in Iran?

Tomorrow? Israel will not mess around if there is a direct attack. Hope our President stands with our ally on this. This has been brewing for 4000 years.

I always thought he was overrated in Moby Dick. He will not be missed.

(Sorry, couldn’t resist). This will not end well.

            Speaker Mike Johnson

            @SpeakerJohnson

The Biden-Harris Administration has done the unthinkable: they’ve agreed to a plea deal with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the September 11th attacks, and two of his accomplices. 23 years ago, America watched in horror as thousands of innocent Americans died. America mourned for weeks afterwards as first responders sifted through the ashes at Ground Zero, at the Pentagon, and at the crash site in Shanksville. For more than two decades, the families of those murdered by these terrorists have waited for justice. This plea deal is a slap in the face of those families. They deserved better from the Biden-Harris Administration.

Israel will not **** around. If Iran really does plan to attack, and Israel I'm sure will know about it before they do, all hell will in fact break loose.

If it does, or if the threat of it lingers, this could be a make or break for the Harris campaign.

Much of the Middle East doesn't like Iran, but would any of them potentially back Israel? I know there have been a few countries that have 'warmed' to Israel in the last decade and don't hold the same hostility towards it as they used to, but that's also not the same as backing them against another ME regime.

How will the rest of the world respond? There seems to have been a growing antisemitic presence in a lot of the world.

Would be nice to be able to lean on Russia to assist here. But unfortunately, it was convenient for the left to use them to delegitimize Trump. They can't come clean on that, therefore, they can't even consider any cordial relationship with them. Especially with how we have propped up Ukraine. Well done, Dems. Glad the adults came back after the foreign policy debacles of Trump. Who's only fault was calling out the lefties of the world on their tyranical BS.

Your last statement is definitely on target. At a Soccer game that a Paraguayan Soccer team competed against Israel yesterday chants of "Heil Hitler" were loudly chanted.

A group of antisemitic protesters brazenly chanted “Heil Hitler” at the Israeli men’s soccer team as they were set to face off against Paraguay during the Paris Olympics over the weekend.

The group shamelessly made their presence known from the stands by chanting hateful rhetoric and booing the Israeli team as they stood for their national anthem at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night.

Swarms of protesters were seen waving Palestinian flags — with some even performing the Nazi salute during their heinous display of hatred. Multiple people were also seen brandishing a large sign that read “Genocide Olympics.”

The Middle East countries are no longer monolithic in their values. It's better divided up by Shia vs. Sunni Muslims. The Shia Muslims are mostly the militant ones that is dominant in Isis. Most of these countries have both but not an equal amount. Iran is dominated by the Shia, while Iraq has a good amount of both Shia and Sunni. However, Iran neighbors Iraq, so they are constantly running covert groups designed to destabilize Iraq.

Another example of this is Egypt where a 20% Muslim Brotherhood group is enough to be a large headache for the Egyptian government. Saudi Arabia and Jordan are also mostly Sunni (and trying to modernize), but has a large enough population of traditional Muslim opposition to where they are very concerned with destabilization.

Furthermore, Iran causes destabilization by arming Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza (Palestine), and the Houthi's in Yemen. I believe that the Houthi's are traditional enemies of Saudi Arabia. Other countries that are affected by these destabilization include Pakistan, and Turkey.

And this doesn't consider all of the Christians that are in each of those middle eastern countries who are being persecuted and murdered. So much persecution has taken place that many of those Christians have been moving away, and old Christian sites (as old as 4000 years old), are being destroyed and desecrated. Its not safe for any of those groups, and Iran is in the middle of it.

Do you even have a mind of your own anymore?

Russia/Putin is the ultimate evil/psychotic of our time - particularly when you consider what he's doing TO HIS OWN PEOPLE in 2024.

Allying with Putin is akin to allying with Hitler.

Putin is a **** person. I don't think anyone was wanting to ally with him. But he and Russia do have a strong influence over Iran and having the ability to have dialogue with him could potentially help in keeping Iran from a full out attack on Israel.

                      Stop being so short-sighted/dense.

Iran deserves what's coming to them.

                        Putin needs to be assassinated.

Can we (NATO?) handle Putin, Iran, and China's bullshit all at the same time?

This has WW3 written all over it.

"When Congress enacted the Foreign Relations Authorization Act for FY 2003 on September 30, 2002, it required that Taiwan be "treated as though it were designated a major non-NATO ally"."

"Israel was designated as a major non-NATO ally in 1987 by US President Ronald Reagan and has since cooperated with NATO in the areas of technology, counterterrorism and other areas."

He's just spewing Trumper propaganda. The idiots are trying to abandon Ukraine and ingratiate themselves with Putin because Lord Trump says so. It is 100% unAmerican.

Trump made this a talking point last year just to be contrarian/obtuse, and his lemmings (which extend FAR into this forum) picked up the song and dance contorting their hijacked brains until they could swallow it.

There isn't a normal Republican in the entire universe that would have EVER spoken a single positive word towards Russia/Putin in light of what he/they did prior to 2016. This is nothing more than a continuation of the Moral Dissonance that has been infecting the Republican party since the orange man won the presidency. I am SO ashamed I voted for him in 2016. Biggest political mistake of my life.

So, you would prefer continuing to send billions of dollars and thousand of ukraine lives to the meat grinder as opposed to being able to call both parties and attempt to get them to stop.

                              I prefer the latter.

                              But you do you.
